vs Competition: Champions League Matchweek 1 Venue: Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany Date: Wednesday 20th September 2023 Time: 20:00 (BST) 15:00 (ET) 12:00 (PT) TV: TNT Sports (UK) Paramount+ / fuboTV / TUDN (USA) DAZN (Canada) Referee: Glenn Nyberg (SWE) VAR: Pol van Boekel (NED) Man Utd Next Fixture: Burnley v Man Utd Sat 23rd Sep 2023 AWB reported injured last game and out a while (so likely Dalot RB meaning Reguilon LB) Varane / Mount back training with the team (but may be too soon to start?) Amarabat reported to be training alone (not good news as some reports earlier he could start) Side note - Mainoo also reported to have just started training alone (which is good news) Kane likely to make CL debut for them, Neuer is still out injured Was nice to put UCL: in the thread title - has been a while
Maguire has not travelled as has apparently been added to the injury list (odd - given pictures of him training yesterday). Varane and Mount have not travelled. Omari Forson has travelled which is interesting. 19yo left-footed wing-forward who plays on the right wing. Too soon probably for the kid to play any part, but if we are losing 5-0 then what the hell - could take the opportunity to give him some experience Edit: On the Maguire "injury" there were reports he left Old Trafford within 15 minutes of the final whistle, something similar with Ronaldo (albeit he left before the end of the game) but not being around for the post-match is not a good look and may be a discipline breach - so maybe not an "injury" ?? ...
I figured we were in the Norming stage of the FSNP model. Apparently not. We're clearly still at the Storming stage. Sigh.
Maybe Onana to play CB - he is more mobile, better passer and less of a pussy than all our CBs not named Varane or Martinez
The squad makes no sense, what's the point of 4 GK while having no defenders other than Evans available on the bench? I assume we would have some youngsters available too.
There is a palpable fear this game will end in a drubbing. I'd like to believe we can get away with it. Bayern seem somewhat vulnerable on the right and can be guilty of switching off.
📣 U-N-I-T-E-D 📣📋 Erik's named our line-up for tonight's @ChampionsLeague opener! 💪#MUFC || #UCL— Manchester United (@ManUtd) September 20, 2023 Pellistri in 3 goalkeepers on the bench...
Onana must really suck that we need three backups. Folks, hope y'all have extra booze and extra weed, or extra lube
surely we could have named a kid on the bench vs a 3rd GK Perhaps one of the GKs is carrying an injury?
So who are our emergency fullbacks? Lindelof/Martinez will become fullbacks with Casemiro going to CB?
Glad Pellestri is getting minutes but a bunker game is really not the place to use him. Oh well. That midfield is going to get shellacked but I suppose we don’t have another option. I would’ve almost rather seen Hannibal in there instead of Eriksen. At least he would give us energy and fight.
Shit I used to do to ensure I didn't miss the goal all together. Aim right at the goalkeeper. But he's a professional...
Saw the away shirt in a shop - the colours & style are just as bad in real life. What makes it worse and isnt obvious is the big plastic green square that is the team viewer logo including square green plastic backdrop. Worse shirt ever.
