She was but Snow played her up high at the NTC. She got behind the back lines of opponents a lot with her runs. She clowned their offside traps frequently.

Somebody deserves a "c'mon, man" for this!!

U19 WNT is just about done with its most recent camp. All the players are age-eligible for u20 WNT. Seven of the players have been to one or more of the U20 camps this year (Buckingham, Cook, Matulich, Cousins, Baucom, Pingel, and Westendorf). Given the less than excellent performance by the U20 WNT group at the recent NTC-event, it'll be interesting to see how many (if any) of these players get called into the next U20 camp at the end of this month. U19 WNT camp story/roster at:

DEFENDERS (8): Sabrina Flores (Notre Dame; Livingston, N.J.), Ally Haran (Wake Forest; Linden, Mich.), Natalie Jacobs (Slammers FC; Coto de Caza, Calif.), Ellie Jean (Penn State; Coventry, Conn.), Kaleigh Riehl (Penn State; Fairfax Station, Va.), Jessie Scarpa (UNC; Lakeland, Fla.), Jessica Udovich (Washington; Puyallup, Wash.), Alexis Warner (Michigan State; Ypsilanti, Mich.)

By my count, seven players getting their first shot this year with U20s.

I do like one of the new additions but really it's the same old! PennState with 4 players..really...there isn't any players better?....it would be 5 if ME wasn't injured. Similar to what Waldrum did a couple years ago with the U-23's. More of the same. I could go on about this roster but won't, I could say more but won't! Team Chemistry......Ouch!

Can't speak of the other two, but Chandler and Riehl were terrific in the W-League this summer.

I wouldn't say giving up 20 goals in 8 games is "Terrific" and with Riehl in front of Chandler! 2.5 goals/game!
I noticed you cover the DC area, then you cover WSR! There are 3 "Terrific" players on the WSR that should start on
the U-20's and one of them played last year in the W-League Championship game. By the looks of it you one of the players well!

You can't judge by those kinds of numbers at this level. She was playing on a team with mostly players even younger than her and with zero healthy players who were genuine goal-scoring threats, so opposing teams didn't have to worry much about defending. Braddock Road got their only win because she stood on her head in goal for 90 minutes. Yeah, she gave up 6 goals in 79 minutes against the Reserves, but she had to deal with 21 SOG. (Riehl didn't play in that game, and it showed.)

Yes, my girl Maddie Huster (depicted at left with her big sister Tori) got a U-20 callup back in January but apparently didn't cut the mustard. She is really good, though. Not sure why Imani Dorsey hasn't been considered more - she was brilliant over the summer. (Haven't been able to figure out the third player you're thinking of.)

A lot of players only got 1 or 2 looks from this coaching staff. By my count, at this point:
nine players have been to all 6 camps
six players have been to 5 camps
two players have been to 4 camps
two players have been to 3 camps
ten players have been to 2 camps
twenty-three players have been to 1 camp

Pugh, is getting a lot of "mileage" on her legs. Seems to get invites to all the camps.

Many of the forwards listed are Midfielders. I'm not sure why they list them that way other than that is where they are going to bring each player in for that position.
"Ok, we saw you play as a Midfielder but we want to bring you in as a Forward to play against The Worlds Best because we think you can score lots of goals against them."

Nice to see Ella,Ella, Ella Stevens get the call. I always liked that kid!

Now try not to fall back on your studies while your gone....if your school allows you to miss.

This is an odd U20 camp in that there are 0 born in 1996, 12 born in 1997, 13 born in 1998, 4 born in 1999, and 2 born in 2000. In other words, a very wide selection across many existing YNTs. Hopefully, a good experience for the younger players. My recollection is that there have been 21 players called up who were in high school. So, there's another 10 here on their first call-up to a U20 camp this cycle.

ECNL touting 93% of these players. Of course, last two times they did similar press releases the us has disappointed. This includes failing to get a win, and almost failing to get a point, in two games against Mexico (got 1 point in two games).

The 24-player roster for the trip:

GOALKEEPERS (2): Brooke Heinsohn (New England FC; Norfolk, Mass.), Amanda Dennis (Slammers FC; Murrieta, Calif.)

MIDFIELDERS (6): Marley Canales (San Diego Surf; San Diego, Calif.), Savannah DeMelo (Beach FC; Bellflower, Calif.), Alissa Gorzak (Eclipse Soccer Club; Naperville, Ill.), Jordan Harr (Dallas Sting; Sachse, Texas), Brianna Pinto (CASL; Durham, N.C.), Taryn Torres (FC Dallas; Frisco, Texas)

The (almost all) no-college-player U20 WNT tour continues. Specifically, the U20 WNT will travel to Madrid, Spain, for a training camp from Oct. 19-29, and play against Spanish First Division women’s clubs Atletico Madrid on Oct. 23 and Rayo Vallecano on Oct. 27.

Of the 21 players called up, 2 are currently in college--goalkeepers Rose Chandler and Samantha Leshnak.

U-20 WNT Roster for the trip to Spain:

GOALKEEPERS (3): Rose Chandler (Penn State; Atlanta, Ga.), Brooke Heinsohn (New England FC; Norfolk, Mass.), Samantha Leshnak (UNC; Liberty Township, Ohio)

DEFENDERS (5): Julie Doyle (San Diego Surf; Laguna Niguel; Calif.), Samantha Hiatt (Crossfire FC; Newcastle, Wash.), Zoe Morse (Michigan Hawks; East Lansing, Mich.), Taylor Otto (CASL; Apex, N.C.), Kiara Pickett (Eagles SC; Santa Barbara, Calif.)

MIDFIELDERS (6): Marley Canales (San Diego Surf; San Diego, Calif.), Savannah DeMelo (Beach FC; Bellflower, Calif.), Alissa Gorzak (Eclipse Soccer Club; Naperville, Ill), Jordan Harr (Dallas Sting; Sachse, Texas), Brianna Pinto (CASL; Durham, N.C.), Taryn Torres (FC Dallas; Frisco, Texas)

FORWARDS (7): Marissa Bosco (Eclipse Soccer Club; St. Charles, Ill.), Emily Fox (FC Virginia; Ashburn, Va.), Mallory Pugh (Real Colorado; Highlands Ranch, Colo.), Zoe Redei (Eclipse Soccer Club; Highland Park, Ill.), Ashley Sanchez (SoCal Blues; Monrovia, Calif.), Alexa Spaanstra (Michigan Hawks; Brighton, Mich.), Ella Stevens (GSA; Grayson, Ga.)
