The boys are born in 1989 or later, but technically the team is called the U17 Developmental Team. The National Boys U15 (1989) Team travelled into the heart of Guadalajara to play “the peoples team” Chivas, their second game on tour in Mexico under the afternoon heat. Basic fundamental defensive errors were capitalized on by Chivas to defeat the National Boys U15 (1989) Team by a score of 2-0. Chivas capitalized on their first opportunity two minutes from half time, as they were able to pass a through ball from midfield, in behind an unmarked right-winger who crossed the ball into the oncoming forward for an easy tap in. In the second half following a free kick by Derek Gaudet which hit the underside of the crossbar and just stayed out according to the referee, Chivas quickly moved the ball forward and from a central defensive error of not clearing the ball in the air, Chivas put the ball past the outreaching hands of goalkeeper Igor Kasic in the 82 minute. “When you give away the ball cheaply in the heat and too a team as technical as Chivas you get punished,” said Head coach Stephen Hart.
