I support USA referees, but I confess I'm not going to pay to watch them officiate a game...

the Panama/Cuba game is scheduled on ESPNdeportes (don't know what that costs anyone to subscribe), and there will probably be streams online in a few locations (including a legit and possibly HQ feed at espn3).

and the game kicks off an hour ahead of the USA at Guatemala match on June 12.

and honestly, I want to see Panama in this round, as they quite possibly could be a Hex opponent in 2013.

I hope that whoever finds an online feed for this game will share with the rest of us. I have several sites on my computer, but as of yet do not know if they will carry the game.

    i see a 4321 in the works

if fabian is healthy he's the lb

how many concacaf league matches has cameron played

and parkhurst can enter the equation too at lb

    so

    howard
    dolo goodson boca johnson/parkhurst
    edu jones bradley
    donovan dempsey
    gomez

    That looks about right.
But I don't trust JK anymore.
If Cameron doesn't start, it's Parkhurst switching sides with Goodson.
I hope he doesn't play there like he did with the U23s.

That's perfectly reasonable. I'd note that Jermaine Jones played centerback the last game of the B1 season against Werder Bremen. I didn't see the game but he got 2.5 in Kicker for the second best score of any player on the field.

Seems like Torres might be okay. Not sure if that means he's okay for Tuesday though.

I doubt Johnson will play so I wonder who should go into LB with this lineup. I know many will want Boca at LB but we really need some senior leadership in the back for this one if you ask me.

    We could go

Is there anyone who thinks we could get Edu off the field. He hasn't looked good in quite a while. I suppose he looked fine against Scotland, but who didn't?

usa has played FIVE WCQ matches IN GUATEMALA

    4 draws and 1 loss

so of an available 15 points guatemala had 7

so i think the best GUAT odds are 50% win

chances for DRAW , lets say 30% and we'll give USA a 20% chance

the key is i think it's 50-50 to take points from GUAT

Well, Guatemala will play the counter game. So playing Jones or Bradley at DM could be a problem, as both like to roam forward.

Of course, I'd be willing to risk it.

    --------------Howard------------
    Dolo---Goodson---Boca---Johnson
    ---------------Jones--------------
    Donovan--Bradley--Torres--Dempsey
    ---------------Gomez----------------

Bench: Guzan; Cameron, Parkhurst; Edu, Beckerman; Wondolowski, Altidore.

If Johnson is a no go, start Parkhurst at LB and move Gooch up to the bench.

I am going to sound like Alexi Lalas here but SET PIECES ARE CRUCIAL in this match.

I can't emphasize that enough. We must bombard them with headers on every free kick and corner. They just can't match up with our size and power.

and if we play that game at jamaica

usa has 2 wins and 5 draws

of 21 available points jamaica has only 5

    usa has 11...

put the record at guatemala and the record at jamaica in perspective..

lossing BOTH goes against past wcq history

and to be in trouble in the semis, i think usa needs to lose both...

that's to be 3rd in the semis

no wins for jamaica,,,well i'll be kind and give them a 25% chance of winning

so between GUAT chances and JAM chnces USA has 75% chance to take points

This is what I expect from Klinsmann. Onyewu starts if Johnson, Castillo and Torres aren't ready.

    --------Dempsey---Gomez---Donovan--------
    -----------Bradley----Edu----Jones-----------
    Johnson--Bocanegra--Goodson--Cherundolo
    --------------------Howard--------------------

agree, except onyewu on the road is a red waiting to happen, and i'd live with parkhurst to aviod that chance

Here is what I am thinking:
    ----------------Gomez----------------
    Dempsey--------------------Donovan
    ---------Bradley---Jones-----------
    ------------Beckerman------------
    Boca---Goodson---Gooch---Dolo
    ----------Howard---------------

I have been a defender of Edu for awhile but yesterday he did indeed look shitty, insert our other DM option. Yes we have to play 3 CM because both Bradley and Jones like to push forward too much. If anything we should have played a 4-4-2 against AB as I don't believe we needed a true DM in that game.

As for LB, I'm really hoping either Johnson or Castillo are healthy. Would rather not have Gooch starting right now, he just looks off.

Subs: Corona and Cameron need to capped and blooded. The other one...probably Altidore.

i agree on beckerman, but if usa ever gets a lead, i can see edu as a late sub for more defense.

altidiore for gomez in 2nd half at some point
i'd rather not test gooch, parkhurst would be preffered, either at cb or at LB, with boca in the middle

Adam, I'm not sure where you're getting your stats. Here are the five WCQs that Guatemala has "hosted" (one at a neutral site) with the USA: the USA earned one win and four draws in those matches.

    1989-10-08 Guatemala 0 USA 0
1996-12-21 Guatemala 2 USA 2 in El Salvador
    2000-07-16 Guatemala 1 USA 1
    2005-09-07 Guatemala 0 USA 0
    2008-08-20 Guatemala 0 USA 1

The USA has never lost a WCQ with Guatemala (five USA wins in five WCQs against Guatemala in the USA.)

So my expectations for a WCQ at Guatemala are much different than my expectations for a home WCQ with Antigua and Barbuda. Any win at Guatemala would be a great result (don't care about the margin, don't care how the USA looks; the only concerns in a win would be any cards and injuries that affect future matches.) A draw at Guatemala would generally be a solid result; however, given the troubles of the Guatemalan team and the result in Jamaica (I've only seen highlights of Jamaica-Guatemala, but the highlights certainly aren't flattering for Guatemala), a draw would be mildly (but only mildly) disappointing. A loss would certainly disappoint, but would not be a disaster -- given the mood at BigSoccer, however, a loss might force me to resurrect the non-meltdown thread.
