Adams slips when he had a chance to clear just outside the defensive box, leads to an extended Atalanta attack that doesn't come close to a shot. Respect to Bergamo, still cheering hard in what's probably their last European action for at least 15 months.
Really good stuff from Adams, broken up two potential attacks on the edge of the box. Playing both forward and deep. Up and down the pitch to put the pressure on Atalanta.
Good job from Adams - helped the team defend aggressively while never seeming desperate. Has to be considered a positive outing. Seems possible he'll play this weekend against Leverkusen as there are some tired and beaten up people on the roster after today.
In the most important league game of the season to date, Tedesco starts ---------------------silva----poulsen --halstenberg--szlobo---forsberg--mukiele ------------------------adams ------------guardiol--orban---kolsterman The smart guys always play 3cb's behind Adams. So far so good, scoreless 20m into the game and the only real chances for leverkusen were on a few set plays where they lead the league. Commentators saying it's a dull game. Eh....
56' Laimier getting ready to come in as Leipzig having a hard time progressing the ball out of their half while playing safely at the same time, Nkuku came on at the half for Silva. Forsberg and Poulsen coming off for Laimer and Olmos. Looks like more of a 343 at this stage with Laimer and Adams playing double central dmid.
Finally, Adams with a progressive pass and Leipzig score on his (hockey) assist. Having the partner for Adams really helped. Tedesco showing why he graduated top of his class at coaching academy.
I'm more in favor of Aaronson to Leipzig move at this stage than I was when Marsch was there. He duplicates Olmos' role but I'm not sure Olmos will be hanging around much longer anyway. I think Tedesco brings out the best in this group. Adams looks like he might want a transfer even as Tedesco likes him when he plays like he's 'sposed to. The thing is that Adams wants a CL club and Leipzig looks headed to CL for 22/23 season, Leipzig have easier schedule than leverkusen and freiburg who are just below Leipzig in standings.
In more good news, Adams went the full distance. In a bit of bad news, Leipzig conceded goals at 86' and 89' to turn a 1-0 victory into a 1-2 defeat to Union Berlin. Adams with a yellow card at 96'. All-in-all still a great workout in match-like conditions.
Allowed the cross from the corner which, after some clever passes, led to the first goal. He had done a decent job of closing the ball down but wasn’t completely able to block the cross. So, not his fault though perhaps he could’ve done more. The second goal was fresh subs attacking a tired defense. The ball had been lofted over the line, which cut Tyler mostly out of the play. If he had fresh legs maybe he would’ve been able to get back to the box a little sooner, but it’s unlikely he could’ve helped the back line stop that second score.
Tyler Adams starts and as a Celtic fan I say, Go Leipzig. Adams with a few touches, nothing spectacular yet from either side.
Sands on the opposing bench. Adams great line-breaking pass just now that threatened to be a hockey assist, by Laimer's shot was well blocked on a very good recovery by Goldson.
This looks a little like a Rangers 5-3-2 vs a RBL 5-2-3. But RBL have the better of play, whatever it is. Tyler shaded left in the midfield.
Adams makes a nice block on a transition play, but seconds later commits a foul 30 yards from goal wide right - Came in late. Think I agree with the non-yellow, but some will think he got off easy. Angelino clears the free kick, at least.
Rangers let Adams dribble thirty yards and play it wide to Angelino, whom they leave wide open for his favorite kind of cross. Doesn't result in anything, but Rangers can't keep doing that - RBL went from midfield to a cross in seven seconds against a fully set ten-behind-the-ball defense without being challenged.
Angelino with a great steal in the defensive half, backpasses to Adams, whose pass through a tight hole leads a counter. Two passes later, a terribly placed pass by Laimer kills it.
