I compiled statistics from the first two rounds of group play to look at which teams were more direct when attacking, and more aggressive defensively through the first two games. I included a chart for defensive aggression, the rest of my findings can be found here. My initial reaction is that England clearly took the wrong approach by allowing players like Pirlo and De Rossi so much time on the ball. Have to think that was their undoing, as they are such a huge outlier compared to the rest of the field.

    Anyone else notice anything surprising?

Interesting chart. I find Uruguay and Colombia surprising too.

I haven't had time to update after yesterday's games yet. All stats are only through 2 group games and I will update after Thursday's games.
