... and the same guy who said Mexico would pay for the wall The man who wants you to take his word (with no proof) that Iran was planning a huge attack on Americans when he assassinated an Irani General is the same guy who swore Barack Obama was born in Kenya.— Mikel Jollett (@Mikel_Jollett) January 6, 2020
And the deepest irony of all, his entire justification is he based it off some intelligence he received. Because, it's okay to NOW suddenly believe his intelligence officials?? After everything hes said about them?
My dudes timeline is quite interesting - predicted a lot of this crap 18 months ago Sees the march to war substantially driven by a bunch of neo-cons upset about losing in Iraq / A'stan, looking to settle scores Talks about the roles of Saudi / Israel Sees Trump's decision making largely driven by his psychopathy and desire to do whatever Obama didn't do Here is one such rant 994282312861978624 is not a valid tweet id
Where are the statistics in this editorial? Sure, here is an economist, but nowhere in here do they show their work.
I’m convinced that the desire not to seem wacky prevents journalists from describing what is happening accurately. It is legitimately difficult to not sound a bit crazed in describing what Donald Trump is doing to the country.— Brian Schatz (@brianschatz) January 5, 2020 STOP. JUST STOP!There is NEVER a grand strategy! He’s an impulsive narcissistic ignoramus in cognitive decline. The option was put in front of him by gobsmackingly stupid DoD people, like handing a Glock to a toddler. And he was afraid the embassy attack made him look weak https://t.co/HRAwSKYRun— Dana Houle (@DanaHoule) January 6, 2020 I boiled down everything you need to know about the president's foreign policy process in one handy flowchart. pic.twitter.com/Qo9bF1QBEU— Open Source Stupidity (OSSTU) Starfish (@IRHotTakes) January 6, 2020
It's weird. There are rumblings of a "plan" in that anything Obama did, he opposes reflexively, so he *can* focus on some things. But I think I agree to a large extent that things are about daily headlines rather than anything else.
IMO the media's fascination with trying to divine Trump's inner motivations is one enormous unhelpful distraction - ever other politician gets judged on his actions I do accept however that this is all very Führerbunker so we have to contend with today's Habermann revalations about how Pompeo may have maneuvered all this
I want to hear more about Donald the Dove. That was always a strange fantasy -- the guy who openly and enthusiastically supports torture is a peace loving non-interventionalist.
It's in all caps, so you know it's true. IRAN WILL NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 6, 2020
They were well on their way to dismantle their nuclear weapons programs, but then the Dotard decided to pull out of the deal and start killing their top generals. So, if I'm Iran, I'm saying f*ck it, let's get them nukes built.
Of course you are. Trump has given Iran (and now Iraq) the following choice. 1) Do whatever I tell you, while licking my feet, or 2) Resist. The only people who would choose the first option are Trump's political appointees. Nobody else will do so.
Seriously? Every single one of the quotes in those tweets sounds quite possible given everything else we've seen.
I also bet there's a tweet about Obama's deal with Iran and their nuclear program. PS: Something close to it... The Iran nuclear deal is a terrible one for the United States and the world. It does nothing but make Iran rich and will lead to catastrophe— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 3, 2015 The Iran deal is terrible. Why didn't we get the uranium stockpile - it was sent to Russia. #SOTU— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 13, 2016
This post made me honestly laugh out loud. It's a ridiculous tweet from Congress. They ceded war powers 2 decades ago (if not far longer) and never took it back. Far too late now. Even if they could agree to try (which they never, ever, will) they have no way to revoke it now.
And? They've known since they took office this could be a problem. They never did anything about the CiC killing and fighting whomever in the name of the "War on Terror" and now if the current CiC wants to fight Iran...tough. They could've not reauthorized the Patriot Act or cut defense spending or added language to every bill up for vote and so on. Far too late now.
They could've done it during the first couple years under Obama. My point is that any tweet/comment from anyone in Congress saying they're the only ones who control war powers is just flat wrong and rich considering they've nodded long this whole time with every other stupid war and act of violence. Way too late now.
Your comment would mean more if Congress had actually opposed the wars of the last 20 years. They haven't.
