Huh...Busy day... In: Spector Loaned from Manchester United, Mokoena also comes in. Two defenders. I'm more excited about spector, but thats just cause I know more about him. Out: Neil Danns to Colchester United, no big loss really. And of course the Robbie Savage ******** continues...and of course we don't seem to be linked with any strikers yet.
It is almost official South Africa skipper close to Blackburn move BLACKBURN, Dec 23 (SW) - South Africa captain Aron Mokoena is set to move to Blackburn Rovers, who agreed terms with the player's current club, RC Genk from Belgium. http://www.soccerway.com/news/full/?page=details&area=1103829955
Meanwhile, utter silence about Nelsen. Earlier news reports had him signed, or almost signed, then that QPR and Rangers are ready to snatch him up if he doesn't go to Blackburn...and now silence. With Nellie there, Blackburn would be a regathering of the Empire...Aussies, Yanks, a South African and a Kiwi. Guess there aren't any world-class Indian footballers. Need to pull in a Canadian and the sun would again never set...
And Radzinski is better than any striker we currently have, hmmmmmm...... About Nelsen, I wonder if thats gonna happen now. Mokoena can play centrally, same with Spector, though I am guessing they play him on the left. If they get Savage I gotta think Mokoena spends most of his time on the back line as opposed to midfield. I just wonder if now that they pulled in Spector on loan if they need Nelsen. To pick up three defenders at the window just seems gratuitous. Especially for a team that seems to have righted the ship defensively.
Hartson and Dickov would be a combination that would give opposing defenders fits, physically, and with Ferguson, Emerton and potentially Savage around to pick up the pieces, it could be fun. Hartson would certainly give us a size option that we don't have. Hughes is certainly impressed with Mokoena: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=320036&cc=5901. I like the sound of him--I remember watching him in the World Cup and being impressed. If he's anything like Radebe we'll be ok. Just hope he settles in quick. I doubt he'll bring in Nelson at this point, though, which is fine with me. I don't see how we can get Savage away from Brum for only 2-3M...but I'd be happy to see him join. We certainly seem to be the most active club in the window at this point. Guess that's because of our new manager, and the trouble we're in.
http://www.football365.com/news/premiership_news/story_138685.shtml Gotta think with the way savage is playing the press he will be at Blackburn. Birmingham can't possibly want a player this unhappy and distracted around.
Had to figure this would happen. And as much as I like Spector, at this point, with our defense playing MUCH better, I have to wonder if Hughes would throw him straight in anyway.
Can we just get this over with already? I am excited as hell if we can get him, especially with the form he's shown lately, but if Bruce is gonna continue to play hardball then lets move on to another target. I gotta think that Savage is gonna be public enemy #1 in Birmingham after all this though. That said, he's already made the transfer for me in FIFA and scored a goal!
http://footballmsn.skysports.com/li...=Rovers+swoop+for+striker&channel=Premiership Well now it looks as if we are going after a croatian striker. Don't know too much about him, other than teh fact he was highly touted when he was at dinamo zagreb, but its good to see us adressing that need.
WHat's this i hear about Blackburn siging a south african goalkeepr? Team captain none the less? Where does this put friedel?
The interview with Mokeana up on Rovers World is quite nice. Seems like a standup fellow. I just wonder, with as good as our defense has been recently, when he'll step in and play. I trust Hughes knows what he's doing though.
Huh. Bruce dropped Robbie Savage to reserves. Does anyone have any idea if we'll finally end up with him? Also their are talks of rangers swooping in for Ferguson, 5 mil apparently. I still wouldn't do it. But 5 mil is tempting.
