Wouldn’t kill me if we lost him if we get something out of the deal. Too one-footed.

They better get a big transfer for Tsakiris if he's leaving for Europe... how many years left on his current deal?

0g, 0a in over 2000 minutes, some of those in kind of CAM roles. He can make a play when it falls nicely to his left foot, but gets discombobulated too often by discomfort with his right. I know, I’ve said it lots of times by now…

To be fair, if they were liberal with secondary assists like the 1996-2010 MLS era, Tsakiris would have 9 assists across his career. I'm a weirdo and keep track of stuff like that. When I did the tape to digital transfer for the Museum of all the games, I kept a log of everything MLS and Quakes had in accurate in the stat history and found lots of mistakes.

Chris Wondolowski had 17 secondary assists that were never counted (Including his Houston Games)

Cowell had only 2 secondary assists never counted so that should tell you something there.

SHOCKINGLY to my surprise, Andy Rios (Yes that clown), had 14 secondary assists!

Thats just the last guy to pass the ball, I think the secondary should be awarded all the time.

I thought June and July usually were the months that the Quakes get a newer set of players or make trades so where are they or when will they arrive?

Who knows...as always our FO work at the speed of molasses. We've known for weeks, months that upgrades are needed. Probably someone will come in on the last day of the transfer window :thumbsdown:

Well assists are a funky stat. Sometimes it’s a simple square pass and the goal scorer creates the shot on their own. Sometimes it’s a dime and the goal scorer only has to tap it in. Sometimes the secondary assist is the dime. But I think it tends to even out in the wash. For example if someone has a lot of primary assists, some are probably great passes and some are probably simple passes. One exception might be if you’re playing with a guy who is really good at creating his own shot. Like the guy who makes the simple pass out to the wing to someone like Mbappe, and that guy beats 2 or 3 defenders and scores.

How often has that happened? It seems more common that we wait until the last days of the window before signing anyone.

I don't recall any last season but I seem to remember many players coming in June, July and August.

Just off the top of my head I recall the following players:

Nathan, Jebo, Vako, Affolter, Cruz Medina, Rodrigues, Carlos Akapo and Miguel Trauco.

Florian Jungwirth was also traded to the Vancouver Whitecaps on August 6th, 2021.

Maybe they didn't help much but they still came (and in the case of Florian, went) during those months.

You didn't mention August in your first post, but, Jebo, Rodrigues, and Akapo were all August signings, Trauco was September. These are all more recent signings than Nathan, Vako, Affolter, so, more recently we have been trending to later window signings, not June or July signings. And Cruz Medina was an academy player, I think we can sign those at any time.

    Ok so whatever....

    June, July, August or September...

My point is the summer transfer window and when are these players coming or going exactly?

Shouldn't some or at least one been here by now?

Leitch hasn't done much pre-August summer window signings in the last few years.

I think what @falvo is saying is that if it weren’t for the Romans we wouldn’t have July or August. :)

Unless they changed the rules yet again, both Nathan and Vako came in the month of June.

The point is, we need a whole new set of starters!

Span the globe, check out the free agent waiver wires!

They can't be any worse than what is here now

At least one move has been made...

San Jose re-sign academy talent Ochoa
Ochoa's contract was set to expire at the end of the season

The San Jose Earthquakes have signed Mexico youth international goalkeeper Emi Ochoa to a contract extension, sources tell GIVEMESPORT.

Ochoa’s contract was set to expire at the end of the year, but San Jose have re-signed the talented academy graduate.

Ochoa, 19, is currently with Mexico’s U-20 national team at the U-20 Concacaf Championships. He has represented both the United States and Mexico in his youth international career.

I think agitating for new signings is a good idea, but also knowing the transfer window dates explains why there weren't any new players in June.
