Hernán López Muñoz, muy cerca de emigrar de Godoy Cruz: por qué le interesa a River - TyC Sports

"Hernán López Muñoz, from Godoy Cruz, is close to closing his arrival in the MLS

San José Earthquakes have advanced negotiations to hire Diego Maradona's great-nephew. The pass is shared with River.

Godoy Cruz's campaign in the 2024 Professional League Cup, where he won Zone B and finished first in the general table, led several clubs from abroad to set their eyes on some footballers from the Mendoza team. And the figure that stands out in the window is that of Hernán López Muñoz, who is very close to leaving Cuyo.

In the last few hours, the Tomba leadership received an offer from the San José Earthquakes to have the services of the River team. Although the details of the negotiation are unknown, everything indicates that the Mendoza club does not frown upon parting with the midfielder at this time. In August 2023, Godoy Cruz bought half of Diego Maradona's great-nephew's pass from the Millionaire, for a figure close to a million dollars. Furthermore, in that transaction, Tomba kept the player's training rights. During last year and this year, López Muñoz was one of the figures on the Gato Oldrá team, which led him to come close to emigrating several times. However, the offers that came to the club were not convincing for the leadership, so he remained on the Bodeguero squad.

Now, this interest from the American franchise, added to a certain erosion in the player's relationship with the institution, would bring the negotiation to a successful conclusion. Meanwhile, the footballer will train this Wednesday with Tomba, and then will enjoy a few days of break until next Monday."

¡Sorpresa! Godoy Cruz venderá a Hernán López Muñoz: cuál sería su destino - Elintra.com.ar

Surprise! Godoy Cruz will sell Hernán López Muñoz: what would be his destiny Godoy Cruz was eliminated early from the League Cup quarterfinals and would sell his best player.

"MENDOZA.- The agreement that would close the sale of Hernán López Muñoz abroad is in negotiations. Based on what the Mendoza media reflects, Godoy Cruz is expected to receive a large sum of money to get rid of his best soccer player. He will do so after being left out of the League Cup and the Libertadores prematurely. Journalist César Luis Merlo was the one who gave the scoop on the progress of the negotiations this Tuesday afternoon on his X account. Based on the information he shared, he will go to play in Major League Soccer. In this way, it is expected that he receives a large fortune to be able to expand the coffers of the interior institution. San José Earthquakes is the franchise that was interested in signing the talented footballer who works as a playmaker. The only thing Tomba will have to do is distribute all of the money equally with River Plate, who owns the other half of the pass. It should be remembered that the footballer emerged from that institution. Diego Armando Maradona's grandnephew arrived at Bodeguero after a great season at Central Córdoba. He spent an entire season on loan and subsequently convinced the management to hire him. It is expected that he will receive a sum greater than five million dollars for 100% of the creative midfielder's token. López Muñoz's final numbers in Godoy Cruz He reached 51 games last weekend with the Mendoza team, where he had the pleasure of scoring seven goals and providing six assists. He was also cautioned ten times. His performance led the club to go to the preliminary phase of the Copa Libertadores, where they lost against Colo Colo. In addition, this semester led the Mendoza player to have the highest score in the group stage of the League Cup."

I have to disagree with this... the 2024 season is not salvageable. Unless we're talking about winning US Open Cup or Leagues Cup. But that's no reason to wait until July. Lots of foreign signings take a while to settle into MLS and get used to the league. Bring him in now and let him gel with the team in 2024 so they're ready to compete in 2025.

At least we don't have to wait long. Whether it's Hernan Lopez Munoz (yes please) or Zian Flemming (no thanks) as the new DP #10, or Leitch fails to get a move over the line, we'll know in less than 12 hours as the MLS transfer window closes tonight. Or shortly after that when it's announced.

Yeah, in any other league we're DOA, but MLS is all about giving hope to as many teams as possible. The players, who are hamstrung by Luchi, are still playing hard, they haven't quit on him. It would be extremely difficult, but imo, if we can add Munoz, we have the possibility to get back to the underside of the blob. Seems ridiculous to even talk about stringing a few wins, in our current form, but the blob will be in sight if we do. If he's as good as advertised, it could be a sea change in the team, potentially a more potent attack would take a lot more pressure off the D.

I think you're expecting too much from him or any other signing to be a "sea change"... even guys like Thierry Henry (who is definitely as good as advertised) didn't make a big impact right away. I remember Robbie Keane joining the Galaxy in 2011 and he had sort of a lost look on his face even on a team that was already playing great and firing on all cylinders. This kid is like 23.

Yeah, I look at it like this, in terms of desirability of how things play out:

    1) Sign Munoz (or similar DP) somehow today? Chances of that happening seem slim, especially after Luchi said that he didn't expect any changes to the roster any time soon, but with the rumors, maybe there's chance.

    2) Sign Munoz (or similar DP) in the summer. OK, we have to wait but at least we'd have, presumably, a player with the skill set we need, and that bodes well for 2025 and our "championship year", 2026. :)

    .
    (somewhere way, way below)
    3) Sign a DP with a skillset we don't need by today.

    4) Wait until the summer window to sign a DP with a skillset we don't need.

Hernán López Muñoz cerca de armar las valijas - La Página Bodeguera

Hernán López Muñoz close to packing the suitcases

"Hernán López Muñoz could leave the club to go to the MLS In the next few hours or days, Hernán López Muñoz, a prominent player for Godoy Cruz, could say goodbye to the institution to embark on a new soccer adventure in Major League Soccer (MLS). The talented footballer's destiny seems to be on American soil, with the San José Earthquakes showing strong interest in acquiring his pass. This offer would end his time at the club, where he has left a significant mark. The midfielder, whose pass is shared between Godoy Cruz and River, is about to make the leap to one of the leagues that is resonating in the world, which represents an important milestone in his professional career. 2023 was a great year for Hernán López Muñoz in Godoy Cruz: he played 36 games in which he scored five goals and six assists. football history His career began at River, where he did not have many opportunities. Consequently, he ended up on loan at Central Córdoba. After his time at Ferroviario, Diego Maradona's nephew returned to the Núñez cast. On his return to Millonario he was not taken into account by Martín Demichelis, so he went on loan again to Godoy Cruz, who in August of last year executed the purchase option for 50% of the pass."

Hernán López Muñoz is the new reinforcement of the San José Earthquakes. * ⃣ The club bought him 100% of the pass (it was divided equally between Godoy Cruz) and he will sign a contract until December 2026 with the possibility of extending it for two more years. #TratoHecho

If CL pulled it off, it's a total Goonie move - i.e. a last minute win as the window was closing.

Jumping the gun, I watched a few Youtube videos. He is kind of a combination of Chofis and Espinoza. Very left footed, skillful dribbler, good final ball, tenacious.
