Last match thread I started was Newcastle, time to get this show back on the road.

Presumably something along the lines of:

    ----------Friedel

    Walker-Kaboul-Dawson-Ekotto

    Lennon-Sandro-Modric-Bale

    -------- VdV-Ade

1 point is not a disaster, considering after this we only have Chelsea (A) in terms of games against the top 7. Getting a win here would be a great comeback after last week.

Whatever the result though, a much bigger and more focused effort from staff and players this week please.

Agreed. That works against shitty opponents, but we'll have to keep to our formation against Man Utd.

We might be without Walker, Bale and VDV.
Walker pulled out of the England squad,
and we've recalled Adam Smith from his Leeds loan to cover.
Bale missed Wales' game midweek, struggle with hamstring.
VDV has struggled for a long time with his as well,
not been 100% for a long time and pulled out of Netherlands game.

Seen some say Bale's out for 3 weeks, remain to be seen.

Lennon will be important if our other speedsters are out,
sadly he's probably not match fit neither.

Bale's out for 3 weeks so hamstring injured. Spurs will difficult in next matches. While Bale did not appear, Tottenham often have not good results.

    Prediction: 2-3

May be kidology though. If they are all fit that would be a big boost, means only Parker is missing out of our best XI and Sandro is hardly a dropdown.

We CAN and WILL beat United in this game. There I said it. I'm not too impressed by them at all.

    Long time overdue as well.

Time for a show of character. I just hope Redknapp is interested still. A draw is not enough to get us back on track.

To beat United, Spurs only have about 37% chance.

Please do tell the formula you are using. My formula calculates Spurs have a 74.898% chance of winning. That is rounded to three decimal points though so I could be out a bit.

Even without your unknown superstar on loan to San Jose - Simon Dawkins...i agree with the 40% range. Are you better than Blackburn or what??? I respect MU but nothing is better than seeing them and Los Angeles lose.... :)

Yeah, well, he clearly doesn't have cable so we can't really expect him to get the social science right, can we?

No Bale or VdV, so 4-4-2 with Modric on the left. Although possibly in practice one of Ade or Saha goes wide with Ekotto overlapping and Modders tucks in.

I am surprised he didn't put Niko in for Saha or more likely Livermore. Niko is more at home on the left and that puts Modric inside.

    Friedel,
    Walker, King, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto,
    Lennon, Livermore, Sandro, Modric,
    Adebayor, Saha.

Subs: Cudicini, Giovani, Defoe, Dawson, Kranjcar, Rose, Nelsen.

If we grind out a point then that's fine. If we can finally beat these twunts, even better. Losing would not be fatal but it turns a freak result into a bad run.

I personally think Kaboul over Dawson is a major mistake. People have highlighted Ledley's poor performance last weekend but Kaboul IMO was worse. Against all but the top teams his athleticism bails him out but against elite movement and pace (see RvP) he gets exposed. And now we face an in-form Roonaldo. Dawson is slower but understands his limitations and reads the game better.

I don't think this is a terrible formation - Modric tucking in will be 'Arry's attempt not to let Man U dominate the middle of the park.

That lineup does not inspire confidence. Not much on the bench today either.
