I think it is just two parties looking after their own needs which is Toronto FC want to have the players committed to going to the first team rather than have them bugger off while Aleman is just stalling because if he has a good u17 world cup than he could get an offer oversea's and if not have Toronto FC to fall back on.

This is an issue with any MLS club so why is TFC taking such a hard-line stance. Either you think they are good enough and sign them or let them keep playing in your academy. Every home grown signing at FCD was triggered by outside interest. This treatment doesn't look good from an outsiders as well as to current TFC academy players.

You are correct sir. TFC should be signing Aleman to a contract, i just don't get what this "letter of commitment" is about? It's plain and simple, contract -> sign it. Unless he doesn't want to sign it? Also, TFC have pretty much used up all of their off budget spots already so maybe that has something to do with it? In which case, release the likes of Matt Gold or Matt Stinson, Aleman has much greater potential than both of them combined by a factor of 10.

TFC is in apathy hell. It doesn't seem too many noticed but this guy may be a top 5 prospect all of Canada and TFC just let him go for nothing. I guess in the many things the TFC fans are pissed about, this is no where top of their list.

    Cool.

The difference is that Canada is a separate system, as is TFC. We actually have a pretty much complete staff of Ajax coaches and trainers etc

    Also, think about this:

Holland - population of about 15 million
Ontario - population of about 15 million

And Aron Winter and co have access to all 15 million (granted with a little competition from Montreal, but they are Quebec based and only would go into closer areas like Ottawa)

Plus GTA + surrounding areas is about 6-8 million.

5 years from now TFC can become a powerhouse.
