What are your clubs best 5 signings in the last ten years?

For Porto, I would have to say:
    Deco
    Ricardo Carvalho
    Paulo Ferreira
    McCarthy/Derlei
    Jardel

Over the last 2 decades I guess it would be (no particular order)

    Danny Blind
    Stefan Petterson
    Jari Litmanen
    Hatem Trabelsi
    Christian Chivu

Rosales might turn out to be a big one just as Mitea. And pherhaps Jan Wouters, odd as it may sound. But that was before my Ajax time.

    For FC Barcelona from 1994 - 2004

    1. Rivaldo (in summer of 1997 from Deportivo La Coruña)
    2. Ronaldinho (in summer of 2003 from Paris St. Germain)
    3. Ronaldo (in summer of 1996 from PSV Eindhoven)
    4. Luis Figo (from Sporting Lisboa - can't remember if it was Robson or Cruyff who signed him)
5 Luis Enrique (came to us from Real Madrid on a free transfer in 1997)

    Not So Memorable Signings
    1. Alfonso (in summer of 2000 from Real Betis)
    2. Queresma (in summer of 2003 - in fairness he was never given chance to prove himself)
    3. Emmanuel Petit (in summer of 2000 - what a dud for us)
    4. Bodoweijn Zenden (in summer of 1999 - pure waste)
    5. Robert Prosinescki (what were we thinking??)

Haven't heard the name of Stefan Petterson but what a player he was...scored some memorable goals at De Meer. Surprised you don't include Zlatan Ibrahimovic on that list (was it because he came through the academy?).

    Rangers:

    Best:

    Brian Laudrup (signed in 1994)
    Paul Gascoigne (signed in 1995)
    Stefan Klos (signed in 1999)
    Jorg Albertz (signed in 1996)
Lorenzo Amoruso (signed in 1996) Probobly the most dodgy player apart from Bert Konterman but on his day he was fantastic and inspirational

    Worst:

Daniel Prodan (cost around £1.5m i think and never played a single game)
Nuno Capucho (Haven't seen a worse winger play for the jersey)
    Egil Ostenstad (Don't ask)
Emerson (Couldnt adapt to the Scottish game)
Stefan Guivarch (Wasnt the player we expected)

    Arsenal:

    Bergkamp
    Vieira
    Henry
    Anelka
S.Campbell - (in terms of local significance & value for money, just edging out the likes of Overmars, Petit & Pires)

Anelka?? in terms of profit, yes (almost £22million profit)...........in terms of contribution he caused more hassle, upset and anger than any player i ever remember arsenal having.....what was his record? 22 goals in 61 league games, 89 huffs, 74 sulks and total alienation by 38,000 gooners

If only he could have staied here... :(
He would have become even far better that he is, I believe...

On the playing side, he led us to our first championship & FA Cup double under Wenger, scoring a goal in the final itself as well as being top-goalscorer that season. For the 3 years he spent at Arsenal he was excellent. In terms of talent he was one of the best young players to have ever played in the red & white, no question - with greater progression & a more professional attitude he could have been the best striker in the World today.

His sale helped us to fund the construction of our training ground at London Colney and more pertinently the signing of Thierry Henry. There is no way he can be left out of this list.

Because he's easily the best player we've signed in that period

    Lee Hughes
Despite his recent troubles (re-signing him being very unsuccessful) he pretty much made us a Division One mid-table team on his own at the arse end of the nineties

    Enzo Maresca
Signed on a free, sold for £4.3m to Juve allowing us to invest in the players which kickstarted our rise to the Prem.

    Super Bobby Taylor
There's better players we've signed, but when the legend re-signed the 'feel good factor' alone (along with a few goals) kept us out of Division 2 in 2000. Two years later and fate hands him the goal to seal promotion after 16 years out.

    Russel Hoult
For being one of our best keepers of all time. Shame his recent form has killed off all hope of him getting the England call he deserved two years ago

    Top 5

    1. Alessandro Nesta - Since Nesta was signed Milan have won basically everything. The best defender in the world will win many more things to come.

    2. Andriy Shevchenko - Two-time Serie A top scorer was a bargain at only $15M.

    3. George Weah - Arrived in 1995 from PSG and won the World Player of the Year award the following year. Won two Scudetti in his 5 years at the club.

    4. Kaka - He could move up this list as the years move on. At only $9M he is one of the biggest bargains of all-time for any club.

    5. Andrea Pirlo - Still young, he could turn out to be Milan's new Rivera. Wasn't cheap however.

    Bottom 5

    1. Pablo Garcia - Crap player, the less said about his Milan experience the better.

    2. Drazen Brncic - See above

    3. Rivaldo - He did contribute to Milan's CL season of 2002/03. But for the most part he was invisible in every match he played for Milan. Which is not good considering how much money he was making.

    4. Patrick Kluivert - A complete flop in Serie A after Milan bought him from Ajax.

    5. Jens Lehmann - His Milan stay makes Taibi's look good.

What about Del Piero and Roberto Baggio? They would easily replace Nedved and Vialli or Cannavaro.

Spartak, you missed Javi Moreno and Jose Mari...two players that never made it. Also Diego De Ascentis...

Only 5 players can make the list. Javi Moreno wasn't exactly bad for Milan. He only played one season and scored 10 goals for Milan. But he could never crack the starting eleven. Jose Mari also had good moments at Milan. But like Moreno he could never get guranteed first team chances. De Ascentis was not a good player. But Pablo Garcia and Drazen Brncic were worse.

Roberto Baggio was signed by Juventus from Fiorentina shortly before Italia'90..that's probably why he didn't include him as one of the best signings in the last 10 years. But in terms of a good signing, Baggio was a great signing for Juventus.
