Along with Bryan Arguez, who will be looking to improve his 3:1 clubs-to-professional appearances ratio.

That move makes a lot of sense. It would kind of be a loan amongst Traffic teams in order to give these guys some pro experience. (albeit minor league American soccer............)

Who actually owns the contracts of these players? It's very confusing. Both Estoril and Miami FC are owned by Traffic, who represents both Arguez and Taylor as agents. So they can just loan/transfer these guys around at will? This seems very much like a Kia Joorabchian/MSI arrangement...............

    It's just so sketchy.............

I guess it's fine when your clubs are Miami, Estoril, Ituano, and Deportivo Brasil, and nobody is paying attention.................

They own both players, so they can transfer them during the windows with only paperwork.

Neither of guy is getting any PT anyway, so they can just go from one practice field to the next.

However, if they get transfered during the D-2 transfer window (open through April, 15?), they can actually get on the pitch and then go back to Portugal through the end of their in-window (Sept, 15?).

They also own a second division team in Brazil. I don't think they really care about success on the field for any of these teams. They just want to sign a bunch of young players and play them somewhere in hopes of then selling them on for profit. I don't really like it, but these third party owners are more and more common in Brazil. The kids are basically just commodities.

No, they are an end product that needs to be improved to have value.

    Commodities are what they are.

Livestock futures are traded on commodities markets and the price of the meat derived from those animals is worth more than the cow or pig itself ever was before it was chopped up.

But, after the livestock is slaughtered, you don't train meat to do anything to raise its value.

    It is what it is.

Players have to be brought up to a certain level to be worth anything. There's input, added costs/benefits and output.

By and large, that doesn't exist in pure commodities.

They're starting to snatch up some really good youth players in Brazil. They "own the rights" to Lulinha, Keirrison, and others. It seems like a good business model, it's just sketcy. And after the Tevez/Mascherano affair, I know the premier league frowns upon these third-party ownership situations. They may have even banned them.

    But Joorabchan's group didn't own a team.

These guys do. (and more than one too)

On paper, they will look legit.

Meh, the Premier League isnt the be all and end all. Whats important here is that these guys are trying to exploit the market inefficiencies in US soccer and imo whats good for the goose is good for the gander.

For instance, if they can take a player like Gale or Tony and turn them into respectable players on the European scene, they make some money on the deal and the US player pool has improved. Its a win-win in my eyes.

Re: Tony Taylor signs with GD Estoril-Praia

MSI owned Corinthians..............which happens to be the club that Tevez and Mascherano were coming from in Brazil.

And in 06-07 they were in negotations to buy which English club?

That's right..............West Ham. That's the only reason Tevez and Mascherano ended up there. Sketchiness abounded all over that mess.

Traffic just isn't operating on that kind of scale........yet. But the premise is the same.

He's been making the bench for Estoril but has yet to play. I don't know if they have reserve team games.

Oh snap, scratch that! He's been playing for Estoril's Liga Intercalar team!

He scored 2 goals in their 4-1 upset (?) of Mafra in the Liga Intercalar South Zone semis:

He may have played in other games but it's hard to find info.

To my memory, Corinthians weren't involved in that ordeal per se, only MSI was.

Plus, that was English football. Other nations may just consider it a made-up controversy.

Sorry nothing really new about Tony but some news about Miami FC.

If Tony and Bryan do return to Miami and play we will be able to see them live on the Miami FC website. All the USSF division 2 clubs will stream games on their club websites for free.

Also I took a look at the Miami board on here and they (fans) seem to be really fed up with the Traffic partnership. It doesn't look good in their eyes.

Fans wants to see some decent soccer.

That is not Traffic's prime concern.

Re: Tony Taylor signs with GD Estoril-Praia

    Yep.

Miami FC is one of the most poorly run soccer franchises in North America.

Although, their roster this year looks pretty darn good for one of the NASL clubs. Christian Gomez (yes, that Christian Gomez), Abe Thomspson, Chris Gbandi, Mike Randolph, Kyle Veris, etc. And it seems like they're adding Taylor and Arguez..............

    Not bad at all.

Re: Tony Taylor signs with GD Estoril-Praia

I'll also add that, since SoFla is over 30% immigrant, there are a lot of people who have grown up on better soccer than USL/NASL.

They may have slightly excessive demands on what Traffic can reasonably be expected to deliver anyway.

It's Miami. No one will got watch the team, even if they are good. That is the sh!ttiest sports town imaginable and I hope to god MLS never makes the mistake of putting a team there again.

A lot of people who live in SoFla usually have pre-existing allegiances. Some of them are cultural, some geographic.

Plus, there are too many teams for the area: 'Canes, Marlins, Dolphins, Heat, Panthers.

    None of them draws well.

There are other metro areas with similar size and and number of teams that do far, far better. The metro area is over 5,000,000. It's lame that they can get any more support for their teams than they do, whatever the reasons. I know a lot of those are retirement transplants, snowbirds, etc., but the reasons don't change the result of the whole equation being that Miami is arguably the worst sports city in the U.S. The only other one in the running is Atlanta.
