Hard to overstate how great this felt. Just weeks after thinking our next game could be the last one ever. Apparently this was the only photo I took that night. I think the teams are preparing for penalties here.
That was a top 5 moment at Crew stadium for me. I was freezing up at the top of the upper deck with my 2 brothers-in-law. Despite having lower bowl tickets, they wanted to check out the view from the top so we walked up for the end of the match. That moment warmed us up.
The only redeeming quality of social media are these Look Back reminders. I've contemplated ditching Facebook so many times but then I see some memory from 10 years ago that tugs at your heart strings a bit.
The memories feature is a huge plus. I have used FB a lot over the years. Now as a parent it helps facilitate all sorts of things - messaging/friending with moms (and allowing kids to be connected), staying up-to-date with school going-ons, the local Moms group, etc., etc. Oh and keeping in somewhat contact with relatives around the country (and world).
Connor tends to enjoy sending messages to me on Kids Messenger like, "I like poop". Not sure whether I should be proud or concerned.
It was also at, or well before, this point when Anthony Pissjizz was the last person referring to the team as Crew SC.
What he really wanted to say: "We are pissed off about the people of Columbus and Crew SC supporters who tarnished my reputation forever, and helped rally local government and business leaders to screw up our scheme to steal Crew SC and relocate them to the city that Don Garber told me I could take the club to when I became the investor/operator. We are proud of our efforts in attempting to destroy the club's business metrics and wipe out professional soccer in Columbus. Now the club will now undergo a challenging transition, which will be difficult for the new investor/operators, based on all of the fine work that Andy L., Dave G., and I put into this."
There's an episode of The X-Files titled "Nothing Important Happened Today." It seems something important *did* happen today in Crew history.
April 13, 1996. Columbus 4, Washington DC United 0. Thor Lee put us on the board and was dumped a few days later. (It was Owen Gol.)
Happy birthday today to Cucho! (There's been a number of Crew player birthdays lately, as evidenced by their FB page.)
