So I figured we could get a thread going to follow up on the run-in to the title. This is our remaining schedule: @ Nice, May 13; vs. Lyon, May 17; @ Nancy, May 23; vs. Rennes, May 30. It's pretty tricky, specially considering trips to Nice and Nancy, plus a game vs. Lyon. Rennes is no easy customer, either. Bordeaux's remaining games: @ V'ciennes, May 13; vs. Le Mans, May 16; vs. Monaco, May 23; @ Caen, May 30. I think theirs looks slightly more favourable, though I have faith we'll win the title in the end.
So we got Nice out of the way (2-0), thanks to Niang and Brandao. Bordeaux, on the other hand, handled their own business by beating V'ciennes. Now we host Lyon and they host Le Mans. If we beat Lyon, I would think we would have the title pretty much wrapped up (on an emotional sense, as that would be awesome for our players). Bon chance the rest of the way!
We're still in with a fighting chance. We handled our business: 2-1 @ Nancy (Bonnart, Brandao; N'Guemo). B'deaux did so, as well: 1-0 vs. Monaco (Chamakh). We host Rennes in our last match; B'deaux visit V'Ciennes, who have nothing to play for. I still hold out hope. Allez l'OM!
Caen needs to win to avoid relegation. I don't think it'll be that easy...it's possible to see Bordeaux losing.
Re: Last Day This is it, g'men. We're at 74 points and we host Rennes. Bordeaux (77 points) have a tricky trip to Caen, a team that needs points desperately to make sure they stay up. Allez l'OM, c@r@jo!!
We won 4x0,but Bordeaux won too,so... Sad,seeing that we had everything to win the title. At least we know that we can do everything different next season. We at least have good players to make a real difference..
Aulas did use the famous pre-emptive strike theory to boost Valenciennes players' motivation… Thanks to JMA the VA fans will enjoy cheering their team in L1 next year and Toulouse plus Lille fans will get the chance to discover the Europa League… Whatsoever let us all remember that Paris sera toujours Paris and that Paris c'est magique To be more serious the PSG mercato will be difficult with no money ahead and Hoarau and Sessegnon probably on some mid level English teams shopping list… As for Marseilles, the public announcement of Gerets departure just before the game against Toulouse was probably a huge mistake…
