April updates! A whole lot of ties in here. I guess that's what happens when so many of the games involve NER this year.

    RS Trophy:
NER ties their way to keep it on 4/9 and 4/17 against TOR and ORL.
Then DCU wrenches it from them on 4/23, and promptly ties to hold on against CHI on 4/30.

    Other "Forward" trophies:
LA keeps it the whole time, on 4/10 (tie), 4/15, 4/23, and 5/1 (tie) against POR, HOU, RSL, and SKC respectively. This brings them up to a streak of 6, which is still quite a ways away from their record streak of 10.

    "Reverse" trophy:
ORL wrenches it from PHI's grasp on 4/8, then keeps a death grip on it on 4/17 (tie), 4/24, and 4/30 (tie) against NER, NYR, and NER again. Orlando bested their 3-game streak around this time last year with a 4 game long, and counting, streak.

    May updates

    RS Trophy:
NYC grabbed it from DCU on 5/8, then held it against POR and TOR on 5/15 and 5/18. They have now held it 5 total times, and this streak of 3 times is their new record.
NYR slaughters NYC to take it on 5/21, and then continues the goal-slaught to keep it against TOR on 5/28.

    Other "Forward" trophies:
LAG keeps it on 5/8, 5/11, and 5/22 against NER, PHI, and SJE. LA's streak ended at 9, one short of their longest ever streak.
MON steals it away on 5/28 heading into the Copa America break.

    "Reverse" trophy:
ORL keeps hold of it on 5/6 and 5/15 against NYR and SKC. This extends their streak to 6, and they have now held it 9 times, exceeding PHI.
MON then steals it on 5/21 before pushing it onto LAG on 5/28.
LAG then keeps a deathgrip on it on 6/2 with a harrowing 0-0 draw.

    Random other stuff:
Orlando still has never won a forward trophy while an MLS team.

    Updates! Exciting ones even!

    All leagues trophy
The all leagues forward trophy takes a different path because of the Canadian Championship.

On 6/1 Toronto beat Montreal in a Canadian Championship game, marking the first time that this trophy has ever changed hands because of the Canadian Championship. That isn't horribly surprising because it happened in only the 3rd ever game in the Canadian Championship where this trophy was being contested, and the first time it was being contested between two MLS sides.

On 6/8 Toronto defended it against Montreal in the CC, also defending it against LAG on 6/18 in MLS, and against VAN on 6/21 in the CC.

Orlando then wins it off of them on 6/25 in MLS.

Then, in another turn of events, it also made its way into the USOC, and for the first time ever, an NASL team, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, won it on 6/29. This marks the first time in over 4 years that it has been held by a lower division side. From 7/12/11 until 5/29/12, it was held by various USL teams.

Fort Lauderdale holds it against Miami FC on 7/2, then loses it to FC Edmonton on 7/10.

FC Edmonton holds it against Ottawa Fury on 7/17, then loses it to the Indy Eleven on 7/30.

Miami FC then wins it from Indy on 7/30 and holds it against Minnesota United on 8/6.

Fort Lauderdale then wins it back on 8/13 and holds it against Jacksonville Armada on 8/17, and Ottawa Fury on 8/20.

From there, it will stay in NASL until at least the end of the season, because there are no official competitions between NASL and MLS until then. This is the 4th time in the history of the trophy that it will have ended a season in the hands of a lower division team.

Since most of the NASL teams are quite new, it is fairly safe to assume that they have never held the trophy before, so any times they hold it should be viewed as records/streak records.

    MLS Regular Season trophy
NYR holds it against SEA on 6/19 before losing it to RSL on 6/22.
FCD then wins it on 6/25, then holds it on 7/4 and 7/8 against ORL and SJE.
SEA then wins it on 7/13 before losing it on 7/17 to POR.
LAG then wins it on 7/23, and holds it on 7/31, 8/7, and 8/13 against SEA, NYR, and COL.
Finally, NYC wins it on 8/20.

    MLS playoffs trophies

MON holds it on 6/18, 6/25, 7/2, 7/9, and 7/13 against CLB, SKC, NER, RSL, and POR respectively. This gives them their longest ever streak of 6.
NYC wins it from them on 7/17, then promptly loses it to NYR on 7/24.
NYR holds it on 7/24, 7/31, 8/7, 8/13, and 8/21 against MON, NYC, CHI, LAG, MON, and DCU respectively.

    Reverse trophy
LAG holds it on 6/18, 6/22, and 6/25 against TOR, COL, and SJE.
VAN wins it on 7/4 and holds it on 7/9 against COL.
RSL wins it on 7/13 and holds it on 7/16 and 7/22 against NER and SJE.
PHI wins it on 7/31 and holds it on 8/6 against DCU.
NER wins it on 8/13 and holds it on 8/20 against CLB.

Lots of action in all of them, but honestly that probably has more to do with the time between updates than anything else. However, the action in the "All Leagues" trophy is all quite dramatic.

Question to anyone who reads this
If Minnesota ends up holding the All Leagues trophy at the end of the year, do you think it should move up to MLS with them, or do you view it as the old team folding and a new one starting up? Essentially the question is if Minnesota holds the trophy at the end of the NASL season, should they keep it with them into MLS, or should it revert to the most recent champion still playing that isn't Minnesota?
I know what my opinion is, but I will wait until others chime in before stating what that is, so I don't bias the results.

I'd say the trophy moves up with them. It's technically a fold / start-up situation because MLS, but for all intents and purposes it's the same ownership / team / brand that is persisting through the transition.

If you were feeling particularly sadomasochistic, though, you could split it out and keep track of an All Leagues Trophy A and B. :)

Updates! Unprompted and timely ones this time!

    All leagues trophy
The Fort Lauderdale Strikers hold it on 8/31, 9/3, 9/10, and 9/18 against Minnesota United, New York Cosmos, Indy Eleven, and Rayo OKC respectively.

Tampa Bay Rowdies win it on 9/24 and hold it on 10/1 against Miami FC.

Since most of these NASL teams have never held the trophy before, it is safe to assume that each time they hold it sets a new record.

    MLS Regular Season trophy
ORL wins it for the first time ever by taking it from NYC on 8/28, then holds it against MON on 9/7.
LAG wins it from them on 9/11, and holds it on 9/18 against SKC.
SEA takes it from them on 9/25, then holds it on 9/28 and 10/2 against CHI and VAN respectively.

    MLS playoffs trophies
NYR holds it on 8/28, 9/3, 9/11, 9/18, 9/24, and 10/1 against NER, VAN, DCU, TOR, MON, and PHI respectively. This extends NYR's streak to 11 in both of these trophy competitions, which is their longest streak ever, and they still have the chance to keep it going.

    Reverse trophy
NER holds it on 8/24 and 8/28 against SJE and NYR.
    COL wins it on 9/3.
FCD wins it on 9/10, then holds it on 9/17 and 9/24 against NYC and RSL.
    LAG wins it on 10/1.

The next update will likely be the end of the MLS regular season, which is not too far off.

It really doesn't take much effort. I have a spreadsheet which does the majority of the work. It takes about 30 mins for each update, and I tend to update either when someone bugs me, or I realize it's been some time since I updated last, which usually ends up being something like a month.

Updates! Up until 10/23, which means there's still one more week of NASL regular season, but MLS regular season is completed.

    All leagues trophy
Tampa Bay Rowdies hold it on 10/5, then lose it to FC Edmonton on 10/9.
Minnesota United win it on 10/15 then lose it to Carolina Railhawks on 10/22.

Since most of these NASL teams have never held the trophy before, it is safe to assume that each time they hold it sets a new record.

    MLS Regular Season trophy
SEA holds it on 10/12 against HOU.
FCD wins it on 10/16 and holds it on 10/23 against LAG.

Since the MLS regular season is over, FCD holds this trophy for the end of the year. Seattle's streak ended at 4, which ties their longest ever streak.

    MLS playoffs trophies
NYR continues holding the trophy on 10/16 and 10/23 against CLB and PHI.

This extends their longest ever streak to 13.

    Reverse trophy
LAG forces to trophy to HOU on 10/16, who holds it on 10/23 against COL.

Since HOU is done for the season, the reverse trophy will remain with them for the offseason.

My goal will likely be to update this after each round (no promises however). Since we have a difference between MLS and NASL that we need to account for, I'll give a quick update to NASL after their regular season games finish this weekend, but I won't update the MLS playoffs trophies until after the full round is complete there.

Though it is very unlikely, I will reiterate rule 4, because there is a possibility of this happening this year:
    4. If a team folds while holding the trophy, the most recent champion still playing gets it.

Based on a discussion earlier, I am adding rule 6 (which is quite similar to rule 5):
    6. If a team moves between divisions, the trophy stays with the team, and switches divisions with them. Exception: If it is an "MLS only" trophy, and a team leaves MLS, we follow rule 4 instead.

Quick All Leagues trophy update for the end of the NASL season. I am not updating the MLS playoffs trophies until after the conference semifinals are complete.

Puerto Rico FC defeats the Carolina Railhawks to grab the trophy on 10/29. Since Puerto Rico is not in the NASL playoffs, the trophy will end the season there.

In the below table, Bolded and Underlined teams end the season with that trophy.

    First update of 2017 season!

Houston beats Seattle on 3/4 to pick them up, and wins again on 3/11 against Columbus to hold onto them.
Portland then takes the trophies on 3/18.

    Regular Season trophy:
Dallas holds onto this trophy on 3/4, 3/11, and 3/18 against LA Galaxy, Kansas City, and New England. With this, Dallas ties their all time longest streak of 5 for this trophy.

    Reverse trophy:
Seattle wrests the trophy away from Houston on 3/4, and holds onto it on 3/11 against Montreal.
New York Red Bulls gain hold of it on 3/19.

Update as we are starting to get into US Open Cup/Canadian Championship season.

    Playoffs and Playoffs Combined trophies:
Columbus beats Portland and Orlando to pick them up on 3/25 and 4/1.
Chicago then takes them on 4/8 and keep them against New England on 4/15.
Toronto then wins them on 4/21. They then keep them on 4/28, 5/3, and 5/6 against Houston, Orlando, and Seattle.
Toronto has tied their record streak of 4 in both of these trophies.
Atlanta, Minnesota, and Orlando all have yet to win these trophies. Orlando is the only of these teams to play in a game where they've had the chance to win/keep them, and are up to 4 such games for both.

    Regular Season trophy:
Dallas has continued not to lose, and thus keeping this trophy all throughout this period. Undefeated in games on 4/8, 4/14, 4/22, 4/29, and 5/6 against Minnesota, San Jose, Kansas City, Portland, and Salt Lake City. This extends Dallas to a record streak of 10 in this trophy.
Atlanta and Minnesota have yet to win this trophy. Minnesota has contested it once, Atlanta has not.

    Reverse trophy:
New York Red Bulls hold onto the trophy against Salt Lake, Houston, and Orlando on 3/25, 4/1, 4/9.
DC then wrested it from them on 4/15 and held onto it against New England on 4/22.
Atlanta grasps hold of it for the first time on 4/30, and keeps it against New York City on 5/7.
Minnesota is the only team yet to win this trophy, but they also have not yet had the opportunity to win it.

    All Leagues trophy:
Puerto Rico FC holds onto it on 3/25, 4/1, and 4/8 against New York Cosmos, and Indianapolis Eleven twice in a row.
FC Edmonton wins it on 4/22.
Miami FC then wins it on 4/29, and holds it on 5/6 against Puerto Rico FC.

Sorry for the delay in updates, it's been a bit of a hectic summer for me.

I'm not going to list out every single game, because there's more than I want to try to describe. I'll give some highlights, though.

    Playoffs and Playoffs Combined
Toronto built their streak up to a team record 8, New England got 1, Chicago a streak of 4, NY City 1, and back to Toronto for their last 3.
These teams have yet to win this trophy: Atlanta (0 chances), Minnesota (1 chance), Orlando (5 chances)

    Regular Season
Dallas continued their record streak up to 11, then San Jose 1, LA 4, Kansas City 6, Seattle now holds it with a streak of 1.
These teams have yet to win this trophy: Atlanta (1 chance), Minnesota (1 chance)

    Reverse
Atlanta continued their streak up to 3, Houston 2, RSL 2, Minnesota wins it for their first time ever only holding a streak of 1, Portland set a team record streak of 5, Vancouver 1, Dallas holds it with 3.
All teams have won this trophy in their history.

    All Leagues
The TL;DR version: NASL will continue holding the trophy through this offseason, much like last one. As before, since most of these teams have never held the trophy before, most of these streaks below are records or at least near records.

Miami FC built an impressive streak of 13 ending just after their last USOC victory. North Carolina (formerly Carolina Railhawks) 1, FC Edmonton 2, New York Cosmos 2, San Francisco Deltas currently hold it with a streak of 2.

Toronto continues their streak up to 7, holding it against Chicago, Philly, Montreal, and San Jose.
These teams have yet to win this trophy: Atlanta (0 chances), Minnesota (1 chance), Orlando (5 chances)

    Regular Season

Seattle built up to a team record streak of 5, against Minnesota, Vancouver, Portland, and LA.
These teams have yet to win this trophy: Atlanta (1 chance), Minnesota (2 chances)

    Reverse

Dallas has built up their streak to tie their team record of 8, against Kansas City, Houston, Columbus, New York Red Bulls, and Atlanta.
All teams have won this trophy in their history.

    All Leagues

San Franscisco Deltas hold it against Carolina, to a streak of 3.
FC Edmonton then builds a streak of 2 against San Francisco and Carolina.

The drama in the lower divisions may cause a migration of the All Leagues trophy. If a team goes on a hiatus, it will follow the same rules as if they folded.

End of MLS regular season update.

    Playoffs and Playoffs Combined

Toronto continues their streak up to 8 against LA, but then loses it to Montreal.
Then, Atlanta wins it, and holds it for a streak of 3 against Philly and New England.
Minnesota, not wanting to be left out, takes it and holds it another game against SKC.
Then we finish out the season with 2 non playoff teams winning it, LA and Dallas.
Since the trophies ended with a non-playoff team, this is where they'll remain for the offseason.
These teams have yet to win this trophy: Orlando (5 chances)

    Regular Season

Seattle continued their team record streak up to 6 against Dallas.
RSL then took it, and held it against LA.
Finally Colorado then took it, and lost it on the last day of the season to Seattle.
Since this trophy does not track into playoffs, this will be where it stays for the offseason.
These teams have yet to win this trophy: Atlanta (1 chance), Minnesota (2 chances)

    Reverse

Dallas extends their team record to 10 against Seattle and Minnesota.
Colorado foists it from Dallas, then gives it up to Montreal.
Montreal then holds it against Toronto and New England.
Montreal did not make the playoffs, so this trophy will remain with them for the offseason.
All teams have won this trophy in their history.

    All Leagues

Carolina takes it from Edmonton, then Indy, and back to Edmonton.
Finally, it settles on San Francisco against Edmonton * 2, Miami * 2, Indy, Puerto Rico, Miami, and Carolina, for a streak of 8.
This is the only trophy still active this year.

The drama in the lower divisions may cause a migration of the All Leagues trophy. If a team goes on a hiatus, it will follow the same rules as if they folded.

I generally try to keep the inter-league politics out of this thread, because it's about friendly competition. That said, the NASL situation should probably be addressed here, since its situation impacts the "All Leagues" trophy.

I pose a question to the people who regularly read this thread:
Jacksonville has publicly stated that they will be playing in NPSL this season. However, they already had an NPSL team (U23s), which will not be playing this season. Should I treat this as a move down to NPSL, or should I say that the NASL team is just not playing currently?

If we go with "the NASL team is not playing", and they don't play a league or US Open Cup game this calendar year, I'd say they went on Hiatus (potentially folding). We then have the question of who to move the trophy to.

Long story short, which of these 3 options do you think is best:
    • Jacksonville NPSL is the current holder of the trophy, and it will officially start moving with their first official game. (April 29th)
    • Jacksonville NASL is provisionally on hiatus, their rightful ownership of the trophy will be restored on their first official league or US Open Cup game of the 2018 calendar year. Provisionally, Jacksonville NPSL will hold the trophy, and it will pass along as normal, and become official if Jacksonville NASL doesn't play an official game in 2018.
    • Jacksonville NASL is provisionally on hiatus, their rightful ownership of the trophy will be restored on their first official league or US Open Cup game of the 2018 calendar year. Provisionally, Indy Eleven (USL) will hold the trophy as the most recent team not on hiatus and currently playing. It will pass along as normal, and become official if Jacksonville NASL doesn't play an official game in 2018.
I personally think that the NASL team is on hiatus/not playing, and that Indy Eleven should start the season with a provisional trophy, to become official if Jacksonville NASL doesn't play a game this year. However, I would like your input.

I see the Armada as self relegating. They have said their U-23 team is on hiatus so unlike Miami who branded as Miami 2, this is the real Armada and should be treated as such. NPSL identifies them as the real Armada so the trophy should start with their first game. Because they are new to the league I don't believe they will be eligible for the LH US Open Cup.

Based on the most recent news, the middle option is gone, so the question is whether we feel that the NPSL team is a continuation of the previously existing U23s team that decided no longer to be U23s, or whether it is a self-relegation. As I previously stated, I feel it is the same NPSL team that has played for years, but am open to arguments as to why that isn't the case. =D

@VBCity72 Do you have a link to a source where they said that? I can't find anything concrete on that claim. Last I had checked, NPSL had made no comment about anything to do with Jacksonville, and I saw no press release from Jacksonville about the situation. Admittedly, I didn't do tons of research.

Not from the NPSL but from Palmer himself in an interview with the local news:

    Palmer continued:

"We will retain our full coaching staff and field a team for the 2018 NPSL season. Our roster will not be limited by age and will feature five or six players from our current Armada roster.

"Our professional players will be using the NPSL games as a preseason training opportunity until August.

The mentioning of age, "current Armada", and the small number of players mentioned there sounds more like keeping the current NPSL team mostly intact, but allowing themselves to keep some of their players around and playing while waiting for NASL to come back. This may change now that NASL has officially called off 2018, but that statement doesn't sound like Armada in NPSL, that sounds like NPSL with some Armada players loaned to it.

However, I am not leaning any more towards the Indy 11 than I was before. I'd still like people to weigh in on their opinions.
