I never thought I'd find an article from the Daily Mail that I actually kind of agree with: Oh go read the whole thing....
Interesting link... Top Brazilian Interested in Newcastle Job Abel Braga is rated the sixth-best manager in the world by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics and has managed in France (Marseilles), Portugal (Famalicão, Belenenses and Vitória de Setúbal) and at least 12 different clubs in Brazil.
Mort draws up job criteria aaaaaaaaaaand...the bookies have slashed odds on Houllier to 3/1 apparently, making him the new favorite after Mort's list came out. We've had informal talks with him about the position, according to about six different outlets who probably all have the same source and stole the story from each other. Lazy gits.
Well, they can't all be as hard working and important as Anal Oliver. Apparantly he is actually receiving phones calls from interested coaching applicants: "I took a call last night from the No 2 to a top Premier League manager putting their case. "And today the man who was officially ranked as the sixth best club coach in the world, 55-year-old Brazilian Abel Braga, contacted me to throw his hat into the ring." I imagine it's hard to be a man of such importance to NUFC that he has to take job applications for coaches and still meet his deadline, but somehow he pulls it off. Bravo, Oliver! Football365 has DD flying into the Toon this evening to meet with M & A. I would be real happy with him as our next manager.
I only remember a little bit about him from Monaco, when they went to the CL final and lost to Porto. Anyone else who can fill me in more in-depthly?
Dechamps at Monaco?=mmmmmmm Good. Really really fantastic football. They were dynamite under him, thats is until he left and they sold everyone good on the team to pay back the Duchy of Monaco and several private citizens who bought the club to prevent it from going under...Someone correct me but wasn't Franc Ribery one of his finds...? Dechamps at Juve?= Mmmmm...? He did bring them up to Serie A and the Juve fans LOVED him; but then again, he also signed Boumsong from us.
http://www.oddschecker.com/football...next-newcastle-manager/next-permanent-manager Dechamps? He is the current bookies favorite which to date is the kiss of death.
And the rumor mill continues to turn. The latest name I have seen is Benifica's Jose Antonio Camacho. I don't follow Spanish football, so I don't know much about him, but Sky is describing this as a "Shock" managerial link and they pretty much trash the report the whole time they are repeating it. He apparantly has the same agent as Jose Mourinho and Ronaldo. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_3052895,00.html
Which, I guess, proves my point about not following Spanish football since I didn't know Benifica isn't even a Spanish team. Maybe the fact that he shares an agent with Mourinho and Ronaldo should have tipped me off. At least I know that Martin Jol is from Germany!
It's done Keegan is our new (old) manager. Here's the link from the club website - just a blurb, but its definite. http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10278~1217034,00.html
And in the middle of the winter, Allardyce was sacked, Keegan was appointed, and they ate Sir Robin's minstrels. And there was much rejoicing.
