Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 He's a ********ing idiot for listening to dipshits and firing Big Sam after 21 games and at the beginning of the winter transfer window.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 I thought Sam was a likable guy, but did you really enjoy watching them for the last few months? The Fulham/Derby/Wigan matches were pathetic. I wasn't opposed to Sam and would have been fine if he at least saw out this season and even started the next, but it's clear that Ashley wasn't comfortable with him spending his money on a team that will play the way that they have. Unless we are staring relegation in the face, I think Ashley will give his guy a minimum of 2 years and at least part of a third to get things going.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 Hard to disagree. We have effectively written off the rest of the season now in that we likely won't be getting in any new players - what time will the new guy have to settle in, evaulate and pick anyone up before the end of the month - and we have seen that the ones we have are not good enough. We know we're not going anywhere anyway so why change managers at the most intensive managerial time of the season and put in a new guy who can't really prove anything and will likely have to deal with the same bad results living with someone else's squad. The new manager won't be able to make his mark until next season, but now he has to deal with a lame duck second half after which, unless by some miracle he gets us into Europe, the same fans will be calling for his head.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 Key element of the above is the words "his Guy" BSA was never Ashley's "Guy". He looked at BSA, a leftover from the previous Troika, kinda shrugged his shoulders and went "I'll give him a chance." Waiting til' the end of the season was probably an option but I'll assume that someone Ashley was interested in suddenly expressed interest and Sam was toast. I'll will say I do not think its an Englishman, nor do I think anyone aside from Mort, Ashley, the new Gaffer and the new Gaffer's Agent has a clue about what's going on. We knew nothing about Ashley's plans for the club until several months AFTER he bought it, what makes us think we will know his plans for the Gaffer before the Gaffer is signed?
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 Agreed 100%. I'd rep you, but I already did it once today.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 I'll agree on that. Ashley is a highly successful businessman and you don't achieve that by telegraphing your plans to your competition. I also doubt he would have fired BSA without a firm plan in place. We'll have to reseve judgment until the new guy is in, but the timing on this still stinks unless his candidate was about to sign somewhere else and he felt he'd lose him if he didn't act now.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 I want what mplsTOON had today. Must be some kind of steroid for the brain.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 SkySports News just broke the news that when the cock crows, Newcastle will make an approach for Redknapp.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 Do yourself a favor and get to http://www.nufc.com asap it's in rare form at the moment. If Harry Redknapp becomes manager I'll puke. Seriously it's all over the net at the moment and if you don't like me freaking out then ********ing leave. Redknapp Bruce Jewell Hodgson Megson Curbishley Hughes Keegan Shearer Jol Colman Sanchez Venables McClaren Robbie Bobson P.S. If you've complained about boring football and posted that you would love Jose as the next gaffer I want you to read the next line very slowly. I AM SOFA KING WE TODD ED. Your a half wit and you deserve to be chemically castrated to keep your defective seed from polluting what is an already questionable gene pool.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 I dunno why, Sir Bobby plays some sexy football. I'd take him back in a minute. Also on Sky tonight they said that Ashley was in Hong Kong (or somewhere out there) today. Seems strange for him to be outta the country during the sack.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 Not strange at all. Mort is the Chairman, not Ashley. Mike just shows up to watch games and wear a shit players shirt... nothing else has been said about his involvement.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 This team would kill him. James Milner couldn't complete a cross in a phone booth. Nicky Butt couldn't beat Bobby in a foot race with a 10 yard lead. Alan Smith gets yellows like he's paid per card. This team is poor particularly the midfield and I wouldn't want Uncle Bobby to have to spend his last days on this earth watching that crap on a daily basis.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 They play a 4-5-1 and don't score at home and counterattack on the the road would Brazil -upon-Tyne stand for it? Lee Ryder and Anal Oliver would crank up the boo boy bandwagon by summer.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 I'm not too keen on the hiring nomad/retread coaches, but we'll see whatever works, right?
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 Thanks but please. I will look like a git tomorrow if 'Atchet 'Arry Lonsdale (Porn King) -er- Redknapp Shows up Tyneside wearing a flat cap with a whippet in tow... ...And Mike Ashley will look like a mug for doing it.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 Harry's leaning 60-40 in favor of taking the gig, if you believe the Mirror.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 So Fat Ashley can't consult with anyone from a club that has actually won something now he has to talk to some former Spurs exec who probably got sacked himself. It's like Stevie Wonder asking Ray Charles for driving directions.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 I'm really puzzled that Louis Van Gaal's name hasn't been thrown around more. Guy is what we could use at the moment. Attractive football (not what I'm too concerned about but other people are.), no BS attitude, and a proven record for taking underachieving piles of shit and making them play worth a damn.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 I could definitely see Newcastle going with a Dutch coach if that's the type of football they want to see. Van Basten is free this summer
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 At least we now know there's a 110% chance we won't get Klinsmann. One reason I don't want Redknapp: I'm so freaking sick of this Premiership manager merry-go-round.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 Kemsley is Ashley's butt buddy from when he used to be a Spurs supporter. Thx, Jay!
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 Anal Oliver has reported that Newcastle has approaced Portsmouth regarding Redknapp. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc...objectid=20339253&siteid=72703-name_page.html Considering the source, this pretty much confirms for me that we have not approached Portsmouth and, in all liklihood, that we are looking at someone else entirely.
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 I get the feeling we're going to be hearing that a lot more this year. Getting used to the "outs" though. This is only my fourth season following the Toon, and already I've heard: -Souness Out -Roeder Out -Shepherd Out (what a coup!) -Allardyce Out -Ashley Out
Re: The Annual New Manager Speculation Thread-v2008 I think I said if first when he never delivered the players he promised last summer. An idiot of Freddie Sheppard proportion. If he were going to sack Allardyce why did he wait until the January window to do so. I am telling you this guy is going to flip the club as soon as the right offer comes along.
