He never played in goal, but if he did, he would become the best goalkeeper not only in MLS, but in the world ! :D

Or any other keeper who sits on the bench, for that matter

Sorry, Joe is great but Id give it to Howard.

I dunno who it was against, or when it was for that matter, but I saw him make this one save with his foot (might have been against Tampa......?)
A clip of it was shown whilst a stupid Metros fan ranted on about him, on a commercial for the team.

    Blinding save, awesome 'keeper.

Joe is better than Thornton I reckon, more reliable. Zach seems to let the soft ones past him. He'd definatly be my bet if they all had a fight though. Thornton vs. Meola would be a brawl to the death.

    He's a big guy

Why are people so enamoured with Blinky the Wonder Keeper? Tim Howard's ok, but stats don't lie -- Cannon is #1.

Cannon has the better D and is better at stopping the 1v1 breaks, cutting of angles and giving the shooter little to look at.......Howard is more acrobatic and a bit quicker afoot. If you combine these two, you'd have, possibly, the best keeper in the world.

In a sport like soccer the numbers very often lie.

I think l d b sums it up very well. Howard IS more acrobatic, so gets more airtime on the highlight reels. But maybe he has to be because he finds himself out of position more often. Cannon is better in fundamentals, positioning, stopping attacks before they start, all of which is never going to be highlight reel stuff.

Funny, seem to recall early in the season people were worried that Joe wasn't as focused as he should be (I have to admit, after going to a couple of those early games, I was one of them.) Well, he looks pretty focused now.

What was up with that chest trap he did in the second half? A little grandstanding? He seemed embarrassed by it after the game. Don't do anything to wake the other team up, leave 'em lie.

The kick save someone mentioned earlier was against Miami last season. As to the issue of better keeper, Cannon puts up great stats, no doubt, but he also has a much more organized defense and midfield in front of him. Thanks to injuries and lousy coaching, Howard's defense and midfield is all over the place, making him, yet again, face more shots than any other keeper in the league. It's not that his positioning is off that lets him make acrobatic saves, it's that his defenders often leave him out to dry. That said, while I think Howard is the best keeper in MLS, Cannon and company are not far behind. With the exception of NE, pretty much all the teams have a great keeper starting, and some have pretty good keepers on the bench as well. Goalkeeping is one of the truly great positions in the league.

And that he doesn't grasp the concept of what a troll is. People can post opinions on other teams boards without it being "trolling."
