I was pretty much fine with the whole tarps thing. Get some advertising for Xbox on the unused seats, it's all good. But now I see that the goalkeeper sprawled across our upper deck looks rather familiar. Go to picture 7 in that album and you'll see. So can somebody please explain to me why in the blazing blue hell there is a hundred-foot long image of Pat Friggin Onstad in Qwest Field?
Because Josh Wicks wasn't available? Well, the tarps were manufactured over a certain time, and unless you want a 'headless' goalkeeper up there, they had to use some MLS copyright photo.
This is a guess, but I think they are making sure that they fit and work as designed. Obviously they will not be there on March 19th or for other games now that they have committed to 27,000 + for capacity. They had to get SOME use out of them.
After looking at the seating chart, the sections under the green tarp were always meant to be tarped off. I would assume that this is the area they plan to open for the first match to allow for more people, though.
The tarps will be removed from the upper south end sections for the opener. I think that they have opened the "ring" of narrow sections that go all the way around over the press boxes. I wonder how many seats that is? I also noticed that the tarp on the Hawks Nest only covers the middle. Is this where the extra seats are coming from? Oh, and can we please get new tarps asap to replace the ones that have the keeper from Houston on them?
hawks nest is now open for home opener. lets see ticket sales...may be a permanent move. But then what is it ? a GA section?
Wow. I would be writing the FO en masse to have Patty O removed from your stadium immediately if not sooner. I have to believe this was done out ignorance. No self respecting FO would have agreed to this had they been the wiser. Especially yours which seems supremely competent. Only man that should be on that tarp is Kasey Keller. Photoshop that shit, Roth!
My take is that some additional seating will some seats around the lower ring around the 3rd Deck. It provides easy access and great sitelines for fans. (see photos). This is only my opinion and not a hard fact.
It's obviously a psychological ploy for when Houston comes to town. Onstad will be too distracted by the hundred-foot visage of himself to stop any shots. Result: Sounders 10-0!
