Two of the more prolific scorers in the early years of the league.

Obviously, the MLS talent pool has evolved, and these guys weren't as good as a Vela or Martinez. But between them, who was better?

Moreno. Ruiz was a great finisher, but he was a pure poacher whose fortunes rose and fell with the quality of service he got. Moreno was involved in the build-up and could create chances for himself.

Moreno. Ruiz was dominant his first year. Especially as he got a lot of calls. Once people caught on to him his production dropped every year afterward.

Jaime Moreno considering Carlos Ruiz's flopping was so incessant he got the nickname "The Fish". The 1st thought that comes to mind when remembering Ruiz is him yelling at the ref from the ground.
