GAME VS MONTREAL, MARCH 4, 2-1 WIN- ANALYSIS:

    1. POTM
    - Kei kamara worked his socks off at both ends of the field and as involved in the play than fredy- he is definitely an upgrade from Montero

    2. GAVE US SOME LOVE- alphonso davies- 1 goal, 1 assist- showed us just how special he could be- he made canadian RB, michael petrasso for montreal, look slow and feeble- more to come with this hound- he sniffs for goals and is trickier this year in tight spaces- still cant use his right foot

    3. YAWN!- the first 60 minutes of the game was as dry as dust with NO shots on goal by either teams- but the drama did unfold

    4. SHOULD'VE, SHOULD'VE, SHOULD'VE- with a weakened montreal side due to injuries,we really should have won this game by more, but as usual, we sat back and lacked energy and connection in moving the ball faster and FORWARD

    5. CONCERNS-

    a. CB aaron maund looked weak on several plays- not sure he will adequately fill tim parker's boots

    b. Our MF lacked ingenuity and pace for most of the game- juarez looked pedestrian; i fear our MF will be over-run by a better team

    6. TAKE IT AND SHOVE IT- we have taken 3 points and we should shove the victory flag up the pole

GAME IN HOUSTON, MARCH 10- 2-1 WIN- ANALYSIS:

    1. POTM-
kendall waston was his usual steady self and a beast in the air

    2. HONORABLE MENTIONS- marinovic, alphonso davies

    3. STEADY MENTIONABLES- kamara, juarez, teibert, shea

    4. LOOKS LOST OUT THERE, SEND THE POSSE- yordy reyna- 2 steps, 2 moves too slow

    5. HAD TO FIGHT TO KEEP HIS GAME- jake nerwinski struggled to keep up the pace and often was caught ball-watching- pay attention to the outside player or you will be sent to the corner of the bench

    6. THE IMPOSSIBLE BECAME POSSIBLE- finally... a win in houston- the monkey has fallen

    7. CONCERNS- maund as CB- good in the air, slow on the pace and timing... but who would replace him ? aja or henry or edgar (if the Caps sign him)

ITS A LONG SEASON, BUT 6/6 POINTS MAKES THE COACH THE MASTER OF THE HOUSE

love at first sight- having LAG sign the BIG Zlatan from man u and he is in the lineup for the next home game- but i think i will be stood up

GAME IN ATLANTA, MARCH 17- 1-4 LOSS- ANALYSIS:

    1. Watching a puppy grow into a pit bull-
alphonso davies shows us once again why he is the most exciting young talent in MLS and why canada has a brightter future with him in our lineup- his maturity over 2017 is amazing- hats off to him and the coaching staff

    2. Devastating hook- kendall waston's shot into the face of the united player should have been a yellow with a PK- the red should be the embarrassment of the ref

    3. Struggling to keep up... take a pill- our MF was miles behind the skill, pace and passing of atlanta's MF- our MF is still filled with a lot of plumbers

    4. Can we hope for more ?- new striker blondell doesnt show much and the MLS seems beyond his skill and pace

    5. Lost in Space- take kendall out of the CB space and we are a lost group on defence- loosing parker shows just how shallow our depth is

    6. In a different galaxy- lets see how we do against LAG without waston- YIKES!!

The game was over with the red card. I couldn't see what made it a red and worst part was ref had a great look of the play live. Terrible call imo. Not much you can do when playing 80' a man down. Agree about Davies and it was a fantastic long pass by Mutch to Hurtado for the goal. Good for Eric as it usually takes him about 10 similar chances to score.

mutch's pass was the best of the game and eric always makes us feel good when he scores- he's a gritty player who has played the role of sub- i wonder if hurtado will ever get a chance someplace to be a first stringer, but probably at the USL level to get his confidence

VAR is to be used to make a call when it is 100% proveable that a red card should be given- the ref took 5 minutes of VAR viewing to make the call, so even he wasnt sure- RIDICULOUS red card and it discredits the VAR
but i agree with a yellow and PK- kendall did elbow the guy in the face

This is Eric's 6th season and he is 27. I don't think starting MLS striker getting 10+ goals in a year is happening for him. He would likely do well in the USL but there is no reason for him to drop down as long as an MLS team is paying him. He would have to take a pay cut in the USL I am sure.

But one day, he may end his career there.

Very valuable asset for the Caps. Low cost, works hard, honest player, etc. Good for a sub and a spot starter when needed. I still believe he is not very good at the lone striker role and would do much better if starting in a 2 striker formation.

i think u r right- hurtado is better than both blondell and ibini- but poor eric will be shoved down the pecking order to accommodate 2 weak signings by the gaffer and club
i would rather see hurtado doing his thing on the field rather than the other 2- sometimes, nice guys finish last

It was an extremely well taken goal by Hurtado. Great touch to control pass without losing speed and ezxcellent finish.

Blondell is already looking out of his element. Visually he looks good (height and build) which likely deceives people into over estimating his abilities. Like I said before, if you are 23 and still in Venezuela, and not noticed enough to be sold to at the very least Brazil, Chile, or Argentina, then the Venezuelan league may be where you should be in terms of abilities. So, MLS could very well be beyond him.

Hopeful people will cite the Camilo example of someone who was not noticed at a young age as he had to go to Malta before starting to gain traction.

    We shall see.

GAME VS LAG AT BC PLACE STADIUM, MARCH 24- 0-0

    1. The score says it all-
each team had 1 dangerous scoring chance- simply not good enough for the Caps who were against a weakened LAG and should have won this in a walk, but instead they walked

    2. The drag- LAG dragged us into a slow-paced, lack of ingenuity game- aside from The Kid in the 1st half, the Caps were powder-puffs in the final third

    3. Bewildering moves by the Gaffer- 1. playing reyna on the outside of MF- so ineffective for him- he needs to be in the middle and try to find that electric #10 that we saw last summer; 2. playing a dangerous striker- davies- on defence for Cap corner kicks and having the enemic offensive punch of jordon mutch in 'attack' mode

    4. Nothing, nothing, nothing- nothing else to say in a lackluster game

PS when LAG get all their first team players back- along with the Z- they will be a force by mid-summer

GAME IN COLUMBUS, MARCH 31, 2-1 WIN: ANALYSIS

    1. Cardiac arrest-
just when you thought the Caps were finished and had little to no control of the game, SLAM, BANG, THANK YOU MA'AM!, the game turned on the thin edge of taking your few chances

    2. The numbers be damned- how do the Caps do road games so well with so little of the ball?

    3. The ghost of the hand- what a terrific 'goal' by davies, only to be deleted by the VAR on a very soft hand ball; but phonsie drew 3 crew players to him (FEAR of his feats) which led to the winning goal

    4. Got to love the stuffing- kei kamara sticking it to columbus- his former team- for the winning goal- NO VAR HERE!!

    5. Seen this pic before- i have seen the Caps start the season well, only to see it melt away in the heat of the playoff push- you cant be giving teams huge possession numbers in the 60-70% range- the piper will be paid by september-october

    6. Lordy, lordy, it isnt yordy- lawyer business kept him busy this past week- the fat lady isnt singing yet... and Peru might be calling him home

GAME AT RSL, APRIL 7- 1-2 LOSS- ANALYSIS:

    1. Lots of smoke, no fire-
the Caps deserved a better fate, especially after dominating the first half with quality chances

    2. Cross-eyed-the Caps are poor crossers of the ball, especially the Phons- all are demoted to the training ground for extensive turf time

    3. WTF??- reyna is awol again- 4 crappy games as a starter and now 2 misses- he's a narcisstic, arrogant nitemare- did i say it clearly enough ??

    4. Go figure- had an anomoly tonite- more ball possession than RSL and yet we lost- maybe less is more

    5. No cigars- worked hard, but nothing in the last 1/3 of the field

    6. Cap MOTM- kei kamara worked his socks off- a definite upgrade from montero and a shrewd signing by robo- saved $1 mill in salary and is a better player

    7. MIA- the RSL fans were few- whats happening to the franchise ?

That Beckerman is a pale shadow of the guy that I admired for so many years in MLS. Looks like a role playing passenger out there now instead of that distribution hub and midfield general he was in his heyday. Maybe he should grow back his Sideshow Bob 'do?

Who ate all the pies? Nick Rimando takes over from Terry Dunfield (who took over from Kevin Hartmann) the title of best dad bod in MLS.

RSL aren't a very good side but they played Robbo ball at home and capitalized on the few chances they had.

HOME GAME VS LAFC APRIL 13- 0-2 LOSS- ANALYSIS:

    1. Double vision-
2 games in a row vs LA teams, both resulting in no goals for the Caps- listless, unconvincing and basically rubbish play- i thought this was our home turf

    2. Indifference should not be acceptable- players like techera and especially reyna dont deserve to be on the field and wear OUR jersey

    3. Poor is as poor has to play- poor ercic hurtado was stricken with the scurvey disease called robo's 1 striker formation- a lonesome, frustrating existence and easy pickings for the LA defence- 2 shots on goal in a home game is weak- take some soccer viagra, PLEASE!

    4. Where oh where has our MF gone??- truth be told, we dont have much of a MF when going forward- players like juarez, mutch, ghazal, and reyna are so outclassed by most MLS teams, its embarrassing; felipe should be a #6 MF and sit deeper to spray passes and teibert or ghazal doing the clean-up

    5. Take me away, dorothy- its better to be on the road than my son watching me suffer at home games- its been a long time since i BOOED at my team... but they deserved it- simply put, a poor team game twice in a row

    6. SCREAM- i'll scream if i hear the gaffer say the team worked hard, gave everything and just need to be better in the final 1/3- this is a joe average team on its best day and unless upgrades come, is not a play-off contender

    7. The cancer can spread- having a indifferent player like yordy reyna can spread discontent, division and unbelief- for the good of the team, yordy has to be sent packing- its obvious from his on-field play that his mind is on other things and isnt happy with robo

Agree with all of this. And yes, Carl spun his usual cliche's in the post game, although he did admit he ********ed up on some of the decisions in the game. (a rare thing for him).

    Dear Robbo,

When your team is chasing the game to score a goal to get back into it, please refrain from moving your best open play attack generator into the LB position. Thank you.

    Sincerely,

pass me a pitchfork- simply put, robo made poor coaching decisions last night and could not adjust - putting the anonymous reyna in was a HUGE mistake- his play lacks energy and interest- basically, a piece of luggage on the field
thank goodness for the coming road trip - bc place is a moat for the Caps

    GAME AT SKC, APRIL 20-

    1. Empty the suitcase-
watching yordy reyna go into his mannequin role after not getting a ref decision is painful to watch- as old fan and i said in the off-season, yordy should not have been brought back- talented- YES, professional- NO- bite the bullet and send him packing

    2. USL vs MLS- simply put, there were 2 distinct teams out there even when it was 1-0- the difference in quality and teamwork was a stark contrast- as i have said since the preseason, the Caps have the weakest MF in MLS- players like juarez, ghazal and mutch do not have the pace for MLS, and felipe is average

    3. Mea Cupa- as a few of us have said over the past 2-3 years, coach robo has not developed as a head coach and he has a poor eye for creative, attacking players; the latest folly is anthony blondell- MLS is just too good a league for him to achieve very much except injuries- another diego rodriquez, sheannon williams and jordan smith in the making- when you have only 3 continuous players under robo's tenure- 2014-2018- (and only one- waston- is a starter) and a turn-over of 62 players, that says it all

    4. Good training- at least SKC had a nice training session

    5. Wear the bag- its beginning to be so embarrassing that the next game i go to, you might see me wearing the proverbial paper bag in disgust and protest.... but its not worth my 90 minute trip to the game, nor the +$60 price tag to see RSL

    6. Will it change- NOPE!!!!!!!!!!! as long as the supporters come out in the
+20 000, the disinterested, cheap owners will do nothing- can you hear the rhetoric and spin coming ??

Is there any technology available where I can only hear Dasovic's comments but Schaad is muted throughout the broadcast? Any time I take a chance on listening he comes across like the Quisling pbp guy in the movie Victory.
