If you get a large enough of group of people to watch with you, the commentary is really, really forgettable. This is what I rely on to help me get through that bozo Torre de Jalisco saying, "Sabroso!" and other dumb crap.
Telemundo's plan is/was to air some games on NBC Universo (formerly mun2)... similar to what Univision and UniMas were doing. Only difference is that not everyone has NBC Universo at the moment. I know they're pushing to get NBC Universo into more homes but not sure if they're progressing as quickly as they hoped.
NBCSN could probably chip in and let them use their channel for Matchday 3. These will be morning games, so it won't pre-empt anything. Maybe they'd even simulcast other games to get ratings from anglos who will watch in Spanish. It's funny how easily some here let their jimmies get rustled by Jalisco Tower. It's not a big deal, Univision's audience isn't only hardcore fans like us. It's lots of casuals who'd prefer his brand of comedy over an analytical, more serious cat. He def has his faults, I've yelled "SHUT UP!" at the telly when they'd chat idly during in-game action, pero no es para tanto. Sin embargo, ya se acabo la epoca de Univision, y tengo confianza que Telemundo va destruyir los edificios.
You know the worst part about Univision having the rights to international tournaments and Mexican friendlies/Qualifiers wasn't the commentary, not even the campy "U-Dtech". It was always the fact that they'd cut to a replay or any other camera angle/shot when something important would be happening. When something happened, whoever was on commentary regardless of whether they were good commentators or not, would ask for a replay in the middle of say a counter attack or a corner kick. Or they'd just cut to another angle showing some guy in the stadium dressed like Cantinflas right before something happened and they'd stay on that camera forever. Got on my every nerve when they did that. Let's not have Telemundo repeat that.
Univision games are hard to follow. I liked futbol de primera, 3 man teams. Univision has Perro Bermudez commentating first half with jesus bracamontes and felix fernandez, then torre de jalisco will pop in and take over play by play and perro turns to analyst and then diego balado chimes in. 6 voices throughout the game plus side line reporters.
Hopefully El Torre de Jalisco jumps ship and keeps covering them world cup games... Vagner Love y'all.
nastalgic with futbol de primera.. Jorge ramos had his trio and Andres Cantor did as well i think? at least working through summer of 06 if i can recall. and as for telemundo covering the world cup the talent working is meh, just like UDN's.. production value and channels with full coverage needs to change however greatly.
I grew up with Andres Cantor on Univision. He had a huge influence on me when I was a kid. I would run around the whole house screaming goooooooooooooooooool until my lungs couldn't hang any longer. When he left for Telemundo I was crushed. At the time they didn't have anything going for them except partidos de la selecion. My only worry with Telemundo is accessibility. Being able to stream the games on my phone were a sinch with Univision. Does Telemundo even have an app lol? They're going to need these couple of years to up the ante. I swear uni would peeve me off at times bringing hella irrelevant topics in THE MIDDLE OF THE FREAKING GAME! Pablo Ramirez has ADD or summat.Glad they lost their privileges.
not since the world cup match vs holland have i yelled at the tv when those morons missed the pk because they had to show a super irrelevant shitty mls replay
