Like I said before, the inclusion of Beasley is most likely an attempt to provide service from the flanks, something that was sorely lacking against Italy.
Kljestan might offer good balance in the middle - it would be hard to move from Feilhaber at AM with Donovan/Dempsey wide to Dempsey in the middle in Clark's role, Donovan/Beasley wide, and Adu/Torres for Feilhaber; I think the defensive drop-off in the middle from Feilhaber/Clark/Bradley to Dempsey/Adu/Bradley, e.g., is too much. The real shame is not keeping Dempsey and Donovan wide, replacing Clark with Kljestan, and then inserting Torres at AM rather than Beasley. For all his defensive hustle, Beasley will not allow us to hold possession in any meaningful way, and so we will be under more pressure than we would with Dempsey there. I'd rather see us make Bradley play more defensively and put in a pure AM then use Beasley for balance - he's too rusty and too dependent on space and through balls from others to play a top technical team.
Klejstan, Beasley, Bornstein, no Torres, no Adu. Bradley is a clown. This game is going to be a disaster. I won't be surprised if the players quit on the coach today.
kljestan, almost more than beasley is the worst start. Obviously he wanted someone "technical" so he goes witht eh guy who hasnt done it in mls instead of the better mexican league player. PATHETIC.
Most observe that we are largely dependent on set pieces to score. If thats the case, then wouldn't make sense to not only put a guy on the field who draws bookoo fouls but also can take a decent set piece? I just feel like Adu would be able to draw some fouls in the final third. Let him roam in front of Jozy and play a 4-4-2. Bench beas and put landon at lw. he will give you as much energy and defensive wise as beas.
Sure, so we bring in a guy who can't hit the broad side of a barn with a cross... yup, that's a great way to provide service.
And Maicon will be exploiting it all afternoon. We may see Robihno and Maicon fighting over who gets to occupy that real estate.
Its terrible logic in that we are ONE YEAR BEFORE THE WORLD CUP AND THIS IS NOT A WCQ! We are an underskilled. We need to develop our young, under-experienced skill players asap. Playing Beasley again is a total joke- NOTHING is learned by having him on the pitch. If 2010 comes, and the young guys don't develop, you play a Beasley. Maybe you play a Beasley in WCQ to play it safe. But not here and now, when you have a golden chance to move a Davies, Adu or Torres further ahead.
I hope you're right. Also, I'd love to see DMB channel the 2002 version of himself, while he's at it. I'd love to see him use his speed to run at people and have this fearless quality to take people on that he used to have in abundance at one time. If he could do that, I'd feel a lot better about his inclusion.
Ever hear of "form?" And do you know why, for 100+ years of this sport, it has been a standard concept?
DeMerit gets skinned for at least two goals. The guy simply brings out the best in opposing strikers. He does not instill fear. I hate to say it, but what happened to Conrad? The guy only scored and controls the middle every time I see him.
Well, BB has gone with his boys. Kljestan, Beasley, and the empty bucket. Not sure where you guys are getting all this 4-5-1 stuff, ESPN has it as a 4-4-2. Personally, I'd prefer it as a 4-5-1. My big beefs are: 1) For Bob Bradley. If Landon was going to play forward or as a CAM, why has he been playing on the LW all through qualifying? 2) If you want to play with 2 DM's all the time, why did you only bring two? 2) For BS posters. Have you guys lost your mind? Historically speaking, inferior teams that play (or attempt to play) attacking football vs. Brazil get killed. Our goal should be stay compact, hope they overextend, and get a goal on the counter. If we still need a goal late, then bring on Adu, Torres, and Davies.
im guessing your preparation for brazil was just like bob's-nonexistant. Brazil look as vulnerable as Italy.
No, I'm just not stupid. Don't give them bunches of space, make it hard for them, then expose the vulnerabilities on the counter or when they push too many forward. If we give them time and space from the get go, we are doomed. ESPN had it as 4-4-2, then tactically as: -----------Howard---------- Spector--Gooch--JDM--Bornstein ------Bradley---Beasley--------- ------------Kljestan------------- ------Dempsey----Donovan------ ------------Altidore------------ I seriously doubt that is how we line up. I'd say: --------Howard-------- Spector--Gooch--JDB--JB ----Bradley--Kljestan----- Dempsey-----------Beasley ---------Donovan-------- --------Altidore--------
Wow, looks like Dempsey is in the middle, not Donovan. -----------Howard-------- Spector--Gooch--JDM--JB ----Bradley---Kljestan---- Donovan--Dempsey--Beasley ----------Altidore---------- Great, BB plays Dempsey inside for the first time ever vs. Brazil?
Does anyone still want to defend Bradley as the coach of the Nats? Starting Beasley is such a joke. And the worst of it is the joke is on US Soccer and its fans. I'm not laughing.
To be honest we are getting screwed. I hate Bob. He plays guys like DMB and Pablo when it is clear people like Adu and Torres have much more talent. His pre-game stuff must suck because we are NEVER ready for a game.
