okay, so i am thinking. last year we employed a pretty strong line-up in a 3-5-2 formation with mais & harkes as d-mids and t-bone as the center of our defense. now i know we dont have t-bone but... why not try this 3-5-2 line-up. just for the hell of it, it cannot hurt can it... ---------- busch --------- - leitch - torres - denton - ------ mias - harkes ------ - west - martino - garcia - -- mcbride - washington -- subs: cunningham for dante in about the 60th minute. i know that torres doesnt talk a whole lot back in the defense which is something a middle back must do in a 3 man back-line but having been at a few games i know that i dont hear dunseth that much when we have 4 in the back, seems that busch is pretty vocal and leads the defense when he is starting in goal... thoughts? ideas? feel free to rip away...
yea me too... except that if we could dump perez and get nelson in the *gazza saga* from d.c. then i think a back 3 of... leitch - nelson - torres ...looks pretty good to me in theory.
I think your original is Primo. I puts Mais and Harkes in the best position to help on both the offensed and defense. Those two are the best organisers, too.
GK-Busch D-Oughton, Dunseth, Torres DM-Mais, Harkes CM- Martino/Perez Wings- Garcia, West F- McBride, Cunningham Frankly, I think Leitch hasn't been as great as everyone seems to think. I might be missing something, but he gets caught upfield way too much, and I've seem him absolutely abused on several occasions. Dunseth has been the best in the middle all year. And Torres' speed is much better utilized outside. Harkes and Mais holding is obvious. Not only that, but it would allow Mais to get forward more, knowing Harkes is back there. If Harkes is injured, as has been the case most of the year, move Oughton there, and put Leitch back on the back line. I could care less about who starts in the middle, the both have their strengths and weaknesses. Up top, McBride is a no brainer, and Cunningham is top 7 or 8 in the league in scoring, despite sitting on the bench save for spot duty the last 3 weeks or so.
