So Ive seen Michelle French's name put out there and I can see that happening. Ive also added Tony Gustavsson's name to my unlikely suspects list. Portland would make a nice landing pad after Tyreso and he may tired of watching Ellis bow.
For all the people tweeting me about DiCicco, Gustavsson, Swanson, Dorrance: Source tells me new @ThornsFC coach has never worked for #USWNT— Caitlin Murray (@caitlinmurr) September 29, 2015 So all my theories out the window.
Is Charlie Naimo still working for the WNY Flash? From the Flash website: Charlie Naimo Technical Director Naimo enters into his first season with the Flash this year. He was previously the head coach of the LA Blues in the USL W-League. In his last season with the Blues, he would lead the team to a W-League title after an impressive undefeated season. The Blues have since announced that they will cease operations for the 2015 season. Naimo founded the then-Pali Blues in 2007, and help guide them to five W-League titles in six seasons. In 2013, Pali merged with the LA Strikers, creating the now LA Blues. Naimo has also served as the general manager of the Los Angeles Sol in 2009 in their lone season of operation, when they reached the WPS Championship game. After the Sol ceased operations, Naimo signed on as the technical director for the Chicago Red Stars the following year.
Portland has a new Coach and I would say the Caitlin is telling the truth! We will find out soon, enough!
If you go to Twitter, people are saying this morning that it's Mark Parsons. Sorry. Let's do this: http://www.oregonlive.com/portland-thorns/2015/09/portland_thorns_reportedly_set.html ETA: I can now report that Mark Parsons has left the @WashSpirit for the @ThornsFC head coach job: http://t.co/2tIOVhFYBK | #NWSL #BAONPDX— Caitlin Murray (@caitlinmurr) September 30, 2015
gotcha. almost doesn't look like she needs soccer.... ...or is it soccer that allowed her to get the call in the first place - a la alex morgan.
From a much longer interview with Nadine Angerer in Zurich, in response to: The best club you’ve played for? "There are so many of those too. I spent time in Sweden, Australia and the USA as well as Germany. Mind you, I’ve got to say that the last two years in Portland really left their mark on me. We had a fan base of between 14,000 and 17,000 supporters there, which I think is probably unique anywhere in the world. The city itself is fantastic. As I’ve already mentioned, I’m a pleasure-seeker and everything has to be perfect. It was incredibly impressive – where else can you play in front of a crowd like that?! It was the most professional club I’ve ever played for. I certainly don’t want to belittle the other clubs I was able to play for; I’m just extremely grateful to have had that experience for two years at the end of my playing career."
Well, well, well. Seattle's raised the bar rather high in the kits department. Portland, what say you in response?
Lingering Achilles or knee issue. I saw it mentioned on Thorns web page somewhere earlier tonight, but can't find it now.
I would doubt that, Sinclair goes back a long ways with this community and it's fans. As long as she is on the field, she will be wearing it. When not, or when Sinclair subs out, then it will be Heath's role.
Does any one know if Amandine Henry is in Portland yet and if she will be in Chicago next weekend against the Red Stars?
