Well, that's a new one. Apparently every home match is at a different park on Long Island, and a whole page on the website is dedicated to Arsenal FC trivia questions (the Fan Zone).

    Cricket, cricket...

Mass United earned its first NPSL win of the season on Saturday with a 2-1 decision over former USL-PRO side FC New York at Lynn's Manning Field.

United took the lead in the 43rd minute, when forward Deni DaSilva took the ball just past midfield and charged forward, taking the FCNY defense by surprise and blowing by them on the way to goal. He rounded FCNY goalkeeper Hector Guerrero and put a well placed shot into the net.

United seemed to take firm control of the game in the 60th minute when a beautiful feed from midfielder Admilson Miranda left Marcus Pizzetti one-on-one with a defender on the right side. Pizzetti pushed the ball back inside just enough to let fly a curling shot with his left foot that ringed off the post and in.

Almost as soon as United doubled their lead, FCNY struck back to halve the deficit once again. The goal came off a corner kick that somehow ended with goal-scorer Tyler Bothe and three other FCNY players alone in front of the net.

word that I have from a reliable source is that the NPSL has taken the necessary action and they have suspended the FCNY franchise for the rest of the season.

And to think these guys wanted to have an MLS team as their long term goal.

wonder what they're going to do with that romney sponsor money...
tbh, this sounded like a funny stunt but after reading about it elsewhere and seeing the jerseys man I'm glad news about this hasn't made front page soccer news

The joy of making fun of FCNY is almost worth all the embarrassment.

This is one way to bring attention to your club....

The Romney gimmick, shady advertising, poor hosting that 's bad. Forfeiting 3 games by not fielding a team, what a joke!

This team belongs in the CSL's 2nd Division Reserve League... Then again that would be insulting the Cosmopolitan Soccer League. Perhaps they should go to local NYC parks for pickup games....

Luckily due to their antics our fun may soon be at an end. They'll probably be dropped from NPSL next year and fold. Mercifully.

So NPSL kicked FCNY out of the league? I went to the NPSL website and they are no longer listed under the list of teams. Has the team officially folded or does it still exist?

Yeah it seems pretty incredible to believe now--7 year plan LOL
What's sad though is how many fans they fooled at first--and what's even sadder is the horror show that they pulled the fans through as they slowly discovered this team was run like a nightmare.....

Tim Holt had big hopes for this team, but they turned out to be a very bad april 1 joke

    Wednesday, April 1, 2009

“We are thrilled to welcome FC New York as the newest addition to the USL First Division,” said USL Executive Vice President and COO Tim Holt. ”Their ownership group’s impressive and ambitious plans to develop a complete soccer club with a strong international partner and privately-financed future stadium will boost the profile of our league''

    hahaha :)

I still need to know though--is this team officially history as in kaput, gone, no more? or does it still exist but simply not competing right now? (hiatus). This is a crucial question that needs answering.

I cannot say I trust the NPSL website very much

    Northeast - Atlantic Conference
Brooklyn Italians Mass United FC New York Athletic Club New York Red Bulls
Rhode Island Reds Seacoast United Mariners Seacoast United Phantoms

    South-Southeast Conference-East
ATL Silverbacks Reserves Georgia Revolution Jacksonville United Myrtle Beach FC

I admit that the FC New York is not mentioned but neither are new teams like Miami and Tampa

thanks man--i think we'll just have to wait and see until the NPSL season gets underway to see what is really happening with this team.

Hah, the season could be halfway done and you probably wouldn't have known it started by the NPSL website.
