http://www.soccernet.com/england/news/2002/0808/20020808fabreak.html Could be a good idea in the long term as it means all the more time for an injury that has been "bothering' a player, but, not enough to keep him out, to heal. Loads of games planed for that month are canceled anyways. But how much earlier could we start.I mean we're starting in 9 days this season so if we were to start a few weeks earlier what wouldd that mean in 2006? Come straight from the WC to pre-season. I offer that this is a long term strategys begining to lower the amount of teams in the EPL to 18. After that happens we could keep the current starting and fininshing dates as well as have the winter break. BTW...how do you think the fitness of the players will hold up with the time off? What do you think the fans will have to say about it if their stars are allowed to vacation in the tropics whilst they freeze their arses off?
Owen not in favour Less fixtures but no break for Owen. http://www.dailysoccer.com/article.php?Article=1310
