Re: Patrick Vieira and his time at Arsenal/Where does he rank? patrick was a legend and legend killer..........no more counter attack play.
Re: Goodbye Viera... An Arsenal Legend No, let's not. This is for remembering the Vieira we all loved, not the one that caused many of us (myself included) to get tired of him. So, here'll be my memory of PV4: The very last time he touched the ball for Arsenal he slotted home the 5th PK to beat Man Utd in the FA Cup. Man, if you have to go out in a blaze of glory, that's the way. Or, I'll remember the three goals he scored for us in our undefeated season. All were critical, but I liked Chelsea the best. After stupidly getting caught in possession early and giving up a goal, he scored a nice equalizer.
Re: Goodbye Viera... An Arsenal Legend Speaking of Vieira goals....the one he scored agains ManU in the 97/98 season at home was amazing. A curling strike off the bar then a post and in. Paddy where ever you go, you are Arsenal through and through.
Re: Goodbye Viera... An Arsenal Legend i didnt think id be that bothered if he went but now its all real im very sad. hes had a great career with us and helped us win lots of things i cant belive hes going to leave im gutted. i feel like when ive just split up with a girlfriend. its exciting to get someone new but im too sad for the one thats gone. if u no what i mean
Re: Goodbye Viera... An Arsenal Legend Yeah, that was a great goal, gave schmeichal no chance, his other long range goal against Newcastle was awesome too, lets not forget his Goals vs Spurs either.
Re: Goodbye Viera... An Arsenal Legend Bummer. :-( What a great last touch as a Gunner. Thanks for the memories, Paddy.
Re: Patrick Vieira and his time at Arsenal/Where does he rank? Absolute legend- very underrated performer (which is pretty tough considering how important most consider him), he was the key to both the defense and the offense- letting him go is a big mistake by the club.
Re: Patrick Vieira and his time at Arsenal/Where does he rank? Taking into account his disciplinary record, transfer sagas and form blips, is he really so far ahead of other players to be classed as a legend? In my eyes, the term legend should only apply to players who would make it into a club all-time XI. He was obviously a very good player who brought you success and he was your captain, but isn't it a stretch to extend the legend label to Vieira? Could the recent success and the fact that most fans on this board are only fans from the last decade (or so) be a contributing factor? There seems to be a lot of agreement in this thread, but not a lot of explanation. Could you all please explain why you consider him to be a legend and compare him to previous Arsenal greats in his position. It could be an interesting topic and I'm sure others will be interested in your views.
Re: Patrick Vieira and his time at Arsenal/Where does he rank? Legend indeed. http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Un-edited Tunnel
Re: Patrick Vieira and his time at Arsenal/Where does he rank? LEGEND! that handshake with gary was so bloody funny!
Re: Patrick Vieira and his time at Arsenal/Where does he rank? Thanks for reminding us! Every team needs someone who'll stand up to the thugs of the league. Patrick was ours.
Re: Patrick Vieira and his time at Arsenal/Where does he rank? Apologies for Invincible. Can all Man Utd fans not troll this thread. This has the potential to be a good debate, so don't ruin it.
Re: Goodbye Viera... An Arsenal Legend I'll never forget that game as it was the first Arsenal game I attended. Thanks for the memories Paddy!
Re: Patrick Vieira and his time at Arsenal/Where does he rank? He quite clearly was. Now let's get back to the topic in hand.
Re: Patrick Vieira and his time at Arsenal/Where does he rank? Go read the ManU boards. The fool was trying to troll.
Re: Patrick Vieira and his time at Arsenal/Where does he rank? Man Teso, you would argue that ice isn't cold if a Gunner said it!
Re: Patrick Vieira and his time at Arsenal/Where does he rank? Rubbish. It has nothing to do with recent success and everything to do with him being the best player in his position in the world for a number of years. He has been a dominant force in the Premiership from the word-go. It's not even up for debate.
