I've heard some claim a foul should be called. IMO, good goal.

Just brought back the trauma of Kasey Keller's own goal in the 'Boro off Carlos Hermosillo. First goal of a 2-2 draw in the first minute.

That was minutes before a Mexico fan spilled most of a full beer on me on a cold April day (wasn't intentional -- who'd mean to spill a $7 beer?). And seats with no backs and 1/2 to 3/4 a butt worth of space for each person.

</Hey you kids, get offa my lawn!>

But it was still a great day to be at the 'Boro.

I wanted to follow up on a post from about 6 months ago. I had asked for help contacting TNT for an article on concussions my company was working on with NIH (We worked with Dr. Fauci before he was a household name!). I got some help -- Thanks Tom!!! -- and contacted Taylor for the article which he was happy to do. Here's the result of the effort (sorry, I'm a bit late in posting, as I'm on furlough and didn't get the reminder that the article was out).

Its tough to level teams that don't play each other, but the fact that Dundalk (Irish Premier, primed to go 0-6 in their europa league group) is ranked ahead of Sheffield Wed. (A team that has overcome a 12 point financial accounting penalty) is garbage.

So this just arrived via FedEx today.

Personalized and signed by Robert and Jonathan.

The letter mentioned 25 years. I'm wondering of this is for '96ers or are other STM getting them.

Nice touch. It includes a little stand.

I believe it's only for 25s. But I'm not sure. I got the same from the Pats on a football, but that didn't look as real a signature as this does.

Other than the defunct Tampa Bay Mutiny, the Revs are the only original-10 team never to have won MLS Goalkeeper of the Year.

    DC - Hamid (2014), Perkins (2006)
    CMB - Steffen (2018), Friedel (1997)
    NY - Howard (2001), Robles (2015)
    KC - Meola (2000), Melia (2017)
    DAL - Dodd (1996)
    COL - Cannon (2004)
    SJ - Onstad (2005,2003), Cannon (2002)
    LA - Hartman (1999), Ricketts (2010)

I was going to ask how could Reis never have won it, and then I remembered that the absolutely brilliant Rimando never won it. So, in the Halls of Injustice.....

I don't believe that anyone was better than Zenga when he played here, but the Revs (and their defense) were atrocious back then. And MLS is not going to give an award like that to a player on a bad team.

Not an endorsement. Just an fyi -

He did at least one other different giveway in the past week or two. A number of folks on twitter indicated it was legit. (Their words, not mine.)

    Random stat of the day:
No MLS team has scored 4 goals in a 2020 playoff game (yet), but 7 different teams have scored 3 in a game (once each): SKC,SJE,MIN,SEA,NSH,CMB,NER.
Five of those 7 are still in.

Well deserved honor for Sam Mewis - she had an incredible year and is positioned to be a star for the USNT for years to come. Good to see Kristie get a run out with the USNT as well.

On a related note, the professional women's leagues in Europe (particularly the Premier League, but also French Ligue, Bundesliga, etc.) are fundamentally changing women's soccer and I have no doubt that with the superior training/development methods, they are going to get better and better. Most of our 'stars' are playing over there, but we need as many as possible - including young, emerging players. The sputtering attempts to get women's pro soccer off the ground in the US is now starting to cost us.

For the first time, the best women's soccer is no longer played here. We could look to energize our domestic pro program, but I doubt we'll ever catch up to Europe, with their commitment and deep well of professional coaching (similar to our competitive disadvantage on the men's side). Our superior feeding program of club and college soccer are our only advantages, but we need to find better ways to leverage that. I think it makes it even more imperative to come up with some form of pairing US women's pro soccer with MLS clubs.

Doubt anyone remembers, but a few months back I posted the quoted post about putting together a book about the first 25 years of the Revs. Well, it is done now. I am wondering if anyone would like to give it a read for editing/feedback as I am seriously considering publishing it.

Think this belongs here. Apparently there are rumors that Dan Snyder, owner of the Washington Football Team (NFL), is thinking about just making their name Washington Football Club. I think this is utterly stupid, but I kinda want it to happen just because it will be hilarious to see all the FCs in MLS react.
