We have a "Things Going Well" thread. This is a "Things Going To Hell" thread. First up, the murder of this kid named Lily Burke in LA. Here's the background. Here's some more. She was apparently killed by a transient. Her neck was slashed. And for what? Nothing. Yeah, kids are murdered every day. But this one really got under my skin.
Mexico 5 US 0 That's a pretty good sign that things are going to hell. I don't care if we used a team made up of USL players and Jay Heaps. 5-0 is embarrassing.
People's ethics, and brains. Logic has become ridiculously unfashionable, especially in politics. Next week in SCOTUS ought to be interesting.
There are all sorts of ********ed up things going on. Like the mother in the Bay Area who killed her son becuase he was getting too friendly with his Dad -- her ex-husband of course. I guess the good news is she killed herself, too. "Yes, small-minded people: a handgun is always the answer to your problems."
The world of banking and finance has gone to hell. What used to be financial sevices is now "how can we rip off the unwashed masses". Ridiculous fees on accounts, $40 overdraft charges, pay day loans, complicated ARMs, default circumstances that are ruthless, predatory lending, credit default swaps, TARP, Goldman Sachs and the revolving public/private door, Tim "tails they win, heads you lose" Geitner, repeal of Glass Steagal, AIG, bonuses with bailout money.... Maybe if they are too big to fail, some anti trust considerations may be in order. I mean, didn't we break up the phone company?
Local and national "news"casts. Celebrity worship-based culture. Especially the concept that reality TV is a) real and b) that the people on said shows are celebrities. Primary and secondary education provided at scales based on efficiency of bus maintainance and athletic facilities as opposed to actual education measures.
The loss of viable top soil for growing crops. GMO crops contaminating the food supply. Peak oil. Our illustrious governmental leadership (pre_and post Obama) has no plan to mitigate the effects of this. Corporate control of damn near everything the government does. Water shortages.
The fact that I sit at my desk at work and, essentially, push buttons all day, but it is nowhere near as fun as it looked on the Jetsons.
John McCain, get back to Washington..... Drivers on highways, particularly SUV drivers....not matter how old, they drive like they own the road, tailgating you no matter whether it's snowing, raining, thunderstorms, etc....and all while one is on the right lane! And on cities, Stop signs are like insignificant ornaments to so many..... and i am not even that old (31) but i guess now i understand what grandparents bitch about nowadays....
The environenment. It's now time to call for a Global Cooling campaign. Where's Algore? Algore! Algore! I'm shocked at how quickly it's going to hell, but Obama's presidency has to be on this list.
Here is how you deal successfully with that problem: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61MQaxY3byI"]YouTube - Gran Torino - Get Off My Lawn (Best Quality on YouTube, Guaranteed)[/ame]

Hahahaha...I can always count on some funny stuff coming from you, but I never expected seeing five whoppers in succession like this
