Probably won't keep a clean sheet against Leicester, been a lot of goals scored by the two clubs when they meet. I hope to see a win regardless of whether we concede or not.
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/feb/15/tottenham-jahm-najafi-reported-takeover-plan Interesting that the deal would involve about 30% investment from the Gulf - remember the earlier reports of the PSG people meeting with Levy to discuss a minority stake. At this point, I would take anything to see the back of Levy and Joe Lewis.
From the club website: Following a routine post-operation check in Italy yesterday (Wednesday), Antonio Conte will remain at his family home to further and fully recover from his recent gallbladder surgery. Health is the most important consideration and everyone at the Club wishes him well. Cristian Stellini will assume First Team responsibility.
He definitely did not look himself the last couple of games and watching Spurs is not the best thing for recovering from surgery. Can Christian continue his magic?
Best for him to fully recover at home. Guess it will only fuel the speculation that he won't renew his contract, but he needs to get healthy.
Having had the same surgery, I knew he was rushing his return. I figured he's in much better physical condition than me, so maybe it was OK, but I was right. For reference, I was told to wait 3 weeks before lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk, and I was away from my sitting-at-a-desk job for that long.
It's funny that fans and media question his commitment to the club, but the guy was willing to risk his health to come back early when he could have easily stayed in Italy from the get-go. Look, there are no secrets about Conte, he will not make any commitment to the club until he sees he is getting total backing from Levy. When he arrived here, after evaluating the squad in the first few weeks on the job, he told the board that goalkeeper and centre-back were positions that had to be upgraded. Three transfer windows later, we have got Clément Longlet on loan and Fraser Forster on a free. Looking at Daniel Levy's track record, I can't really blame him.
What is interesting is that one of Levy's better bits of business was brining in Lloris. From 1981 to 2001, Spurs had, essentially, 3 starting keepers during that time. From 2001 to 2012 (signing of Lloris), Spurs have had, what 6? 7? starting keepers. He was never the best in the Europe, or even the EPL, but he was certainly in the conversation for most of the time with Spurs. But the last 2 years have definitely seen him slip. It is definitely time for him to move on, but I can understand how Levy can be reluctant to replace him. Particularly since Lloris only cost 15m (10m + 5m). He was France's starting keeper at the time. That kind of success is going to tough to replicate, and Levy will want to try.
There were plenty of top keepers we could have signed in the last 2-3 years for a lot less than what we are going to have to pay in the summer.
How do you guys feel about Neuer? He may have fallen out with the Bayern hierarchy. There's a chance they are willing to offload him. I think realistically you could nab him
"Never eat anything bigger than your head" - Billy Connolly I think, but I have used this for many years as my supposed fortune cookie fortune.
