Things that annoy me: So DAZN, who spent a gazillion dollars to buy the PL and CL broadcast rights in Canada, got outbid by FuboTV, who got the PL rights. So now I need TWO streaming subscriptions to watch Spurs this season - Fubo for PL and DAZN for CL and League Cup.
Similar situation here in the US. I have Peacock for EPL, and I think I get CBS which carries some of the other stuff, but anything on Paramount I will get a stream or go to the soccer pub.
JD Trouble returns as part of the coaching staff and club ambassador. We are delighted to announce that Jermain Defoe has returned to the Club as a member of our Academy coaching staff and Club Ambassador.Welcome back, @IAmJermainDefoe 💙— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) August 12, 2022
Interesting ranking of the transfers between the top six https://www.espn.com/soccer/blog-th...alchelsealiverpoolman-cityman-unitedtottenham Notably of the top 10, Tottenham provided 5, Arsenal 3 while Liverpool & City provided one each.
We got Forest away for the League cup 3rd round. Big tie is Citeh-Chelsea, so one of the big boys is out for sure. Tricky ties for some others too, Man U, Arsenal and us. Games are week of Nov 7. https://www.skysports.com/football/...anchester-city-to-host-chelsea-in-third-round
Depends on which Man U team shows up. Newcastle, with the way they looked v. Man City have potential. And they have a tricky guest in Palace.
Our fitness coach, Gian Piero Ventrone, has died. This article says that he was diagnosed with leukemia a few days ago and went into a coma on Tuesday. He seemed to have been loved by a lot of the players as Son, Richie, Kane amongst others have posted tributes on social media. Would imagine that his deteriorating condition had some impact on the past two performances.
In the sadness over Gian Piero we also had another loss: John Duncan, who scored 53 goals for us in 103 appearances, in the mid-late 70's. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/63187788 Far from the biggest name in Spurs history, but quite the hero for me in my early years following the team. He was integral to the team that had a single year in the second division in 1977. Went on to manage Ipswich and famously took Chesterfield to a cup semi final.
Some of my mates in Sheffield were talking about Duncan's passing the other day. They were just referring to him as the old Chessie gaffer, but as soon as I heard it, I presumed (then googled/confirmed) that it was 'our' John Duncan they were talking about. I admit that I'd known nothing about Chesterfield's Cup semi v Middlesbrough, but apparently they had what appeared to be a good goal disallowed that would have put them up 3-1, and up a man with 20 minutes left. But 'Boro equalized and it went to a replay, which 'Boro then won. Chesterfield were damn near in an FA Cup final ... it's hard to imagine. RIP.
It looks like Richarlison could be out for a while, and Conte is saying that Kulusevski still needs time, so it may be three in the middle of necessity - though obviously Moura is still an option. What's frustrating is that, while we got all this 'depth' to cover such things, Conte's refusal to rotate the starters means Kane and Sonny will be run into the dirt. I suppose we'll be positioned well enough going into the WC break, but I'm concerned about how we'll fare coming out of it.
Being forced to play 3 in the middle could be a good thing but these injuries are starting to pile up and become concerning. An injury to Kane, Son, Dier or Hojbjerg and we will be in big trouble.
Can't imagine S. Korea going deep in the world cup but England and Kane might, which would be bad news for Spurs. Richi has tweeted that 'everything is going to be ok' so who knows how bad he is, but of course we can expect Brazil to go deep.
It makes sense to play 3-5-2. Skipp and Bissouma are better than Moura and Gil, and there is also Sarr.
Report: Conte planning on exit, Tottenham targeting £700k-a-week manager as replacement HITC 7h. What's the point of staying at a club for only a season and a half? I just see no sense in that at all. Surely he'll not go leaving the job half done. The coach Spurs have lined up is Diego Simeone if Conte leaves.
That has drama all over it. Read the Google translated article and I call bullshit. Mind, this comes on the heals of Conte asking for more investment.
I hope you're right and if Conte's reaction after the second goal tells us anything it means he's still fully committed.
I expect lots of rumors. Conte has expressed displeasure and there has been a recent high turnover, particularly for a club which is a regular CL club.
I don't think it's displeasure, he just keeps saying he needs more players. Hard to disagree at this point, but he was already saying it at the end of the last transfer window. I don't think anything has changed.
