What lineup(s) has he used so far? And which is he known to use?
This can be a thread throughout the season to discuss what he's doing and if we agree or not!:D

Let's go, I think we'll see this to start the season:

    --Pereira--Carrico---Polga---Evaldo---
    ----Rinaudo------------Schaars-----
    -Izzy(if healthy, Djalo if not)---Capel--
    ------VwW------Postiga------------

Of course this is early speculation without even seeing what Izzy can do since he's barely played, how Mati/Carrillo/Rodriguez will fit in and be used.

Just want to clear out the Transfer thread and start some prognosticating.

Hes been using a 4-1-3-2 system

    --------------- Patricio ---------

    Pereira ---- Carrico --- Polga --- Evaldo

    --------------- Rinaudo ------------

    Izma ---------- Schaars ------ Yannick

    --------- Postiga --- v. Wolfswinkel -------

I'm not sure about the names upfront and sides of Rinaudo and Schaars, but I am very sure that Polga won't start over Onyewu or Rodríguez.

But yeah, that is pretty much the tactic that you will be seeing this season. I like it.

    The lineup I posted is the one DP has used during the pre-season. With Matias, Rodriguez, Capel etc. coming back it will obviously change. I expect this to be the lineup when the games count (based on the current squad);

    ---------------- Patricio -------------

    Pereira --- Carrico --- Onyewu --- Evaldo

    ----------- Rinaudo --- Schaars ---------

    Izma ------------ Matias ---------- Capel

    -------------- v. Wolfswinkel ------------

I agree with this, though I still think VwW has a lot to prove before being the starter up top. The other ? is Onyewu/Rodriguez. The rest is just about set in stone.

Big worry for me is tasking Pereira with too much in attack, leaving us exposed over the top where we would be. Causes a shift in defense and Evaldo to be exposed on the other side.

with our current roster, what will be our starting 11?

i would like to see this team starting.

    --------------- Patricio ---------

    Pereira ---- Carrico --- Rodriguez --- Tuiran
    --------------- Rinaudo ------------

    Jeffren ---------- Schaars ------ Capel

    --------- Postiga --- v. Wolfswinkel -------

    Your thoughts?

    Fixed spelling.

With no alternative to Postiga, it looks fine to me. Rubio is too young and I would expect Jeffren will start over Izmailov either through performance or injury to Izmailov. Schaars and Rinaudo down the middle is a no brainer, so is Capel and the D. We can only hope Turan can dump Evaldo.

    well lets compare

    -------------Rui Patricio---------
    Pereira----Carrico---Rodriguez---Turan-----
    ---------Rinaudo--Schaars--------------------
    --------------Matias------------------------
    Jeffren------Postiga-----------Capel---------------

    Coach: Domingos

    vs

    ---------------Helton---------------
    Fucile----Otamendi---Rolando---Alvaro---
    -----------Fernando---------------------
    -------Moutinho---gurain-----------------
    Hulk-------Falcao---------Varela--------------

    Coach: Vitor Pereira

+ Jorge sousa, Olegario Benqueranca, Elmano Santos, etc etc

Will be tough, besides dont know exactly what SCP new regular XI will end up being and with all the new players its hard to say exactly how they will perform

I do however think SCP is particularly strong in midfield, and now in wingers following the arrivals of Capel and Jeffren. Defense is my main concern, but Rodriguez is a proven performer, have to hope Turan can play LB well against Evaldo (who sucks lets be honest) and need to hope that Domingos' excelletn defensive organization from Braga can carry over to SCP.

We also dont have a proven striker on the team who guarentees 20-25 goals on the team.

^ Fair enough, and we also don't know what players from Porto might still leave before the transfer window closes.

I think Bendter will start up front for you guys. I think he can score 15+ goals for sure.

lets put it this was, if the officiating is fair and simple accross the board, it will be a tight race between porto, benfica, and sporting this season for the title.

Same for me, though I think we know Evaldo will start at LB:mad:.
We need either Mati/Izzy/Aguiar in the middle to create, unless Schaars shows he can do more than connect the backline and wingers. Need someone to split defenders with through balls and take shots from outside the box. the addition of Jeffren makes me think Izmailov, when healthy, may be used as a 10.

Realistically, I think Djalo starts the season at LW, while Capel and Jeffren alternate to start off. Not because they aren't better than him, but because they havent had full training camps with the squad and need integration time.

What bothers me is that Polga was the best defensive player against Valencia. That can not be repeated again during the season if Sporting is hoping to win a title. I know that Polga has been a loyal Sporting player all along, but I still blame him for the Uefa cup final fiasco and have hoped for his transferring out long ago. So, I too, hope that Domingos can bring order to the defense. We all know that titles are won with a strong defense.

i agree. and Domingos is implementing a system suited for that.

the valencia game was a unfortunate one, but atleast it was preseason.

lets see how thery do vs malaga today.

I love how we were 38 pts back and yet people keep going back to the same lame duck players in the first XI that put us there last year, either by pathetic performances or injuries.

anyone watching the game vs malaga?

    still 0-0

    not liking this 4-1-3-2

id much rather see 4-3-3 with one pure striker, we have more talent in midfield and less in strikers we should play to our strengths...

I just feel that playing with 2 CMs (one more DM i.e. Rinaudo one more box to box i.e. Schaars) gives much better control of the midfield.

That's what I expect Sporting to start off with. Jeffen could swap with Capel. I think Bendtner has more to offer than Postiga but that could swap out too.

I really like Andre Santos and how he was progressing last year, hope you guys don't forget about him.
