Re: The Sky is Falling (Philly Edition) This so so wrong on so many levels! If they stick a team in St. Louis, what's the point of KC existing? Bring on the move!
Re: The Sky is Falling (Philly Edition) Dills, are those your purple shoes at the 1:30 mark - those are sweet - not.
Re: The Sky is Falling (Philly Edition) I just watched that video 4 times... thats a great first memory of Philadelphia sports.
Re: The Sky is Falling (Philly Edition) Despite the tongue-in-cheek nature of it, this thread is pathetic.
Re: Bobby McFerrin (Philly Edition) State legislators- not on board! SORRY, had to throw that in there. Commence to beating me up for being a Negadelphian.
Re: Bobby McFerrin (Philly Edition) If you break up with your girlfriend before the vote, you are getting a code red.
Re: The Sky is Falling (Philly Edition) Stupid emos. Don't know that proper suicide technique is up and down, not crosswise.
Re: The Sky is Falling (Philly Edition) There are simply too many market including Philly that can and will support a team in MLS.There is simply too much interest in MLS too ignore it or call it minor league anymore. And creating rivalries between East Coast teams is simply too important for the media coverage that MLS craves.... conclusion:MLS will be in Philly.Maybe not this goround but in time it will happen. So hang in there and contiue being positive...Save your negativity for when you come to Houston and get your butts handed to you on the pitch. good luck Philly MLS needs you
Re: Bobby McFerrin (Philly Edition) Hey this is the Bobby McFerrin (aka Hakuna-Matata) thread! There are NO negative comments allowed in here! ETA - This got moved to the other thread. I'm getting VERY confused with all of this thread moving!
Re: The Sky is Falling (Philly Edition) This could be the most unintentionally funny post. How would he post if he got it right the first time?
Re: The Sky is Falling (Philly Edition) Wow- this site certainly answered my question as to whether others in the Delaware Valley were interested in a team. I commend the Sons of Ben for their efforts and I feel their efforts will not go for naught. I think it's a matter of getting the stadium done- you can throw out the idea of needing a team on the West Coast. St Louis is west of the Mississippi, so that's west enough. Leagues are concerned about franchise fees and financial stability and in the case of soccer, the facility. If it can land all 3, then geography is irrelevant. Besides, if they knew a St Louis deal was imminent, would Garber bother making a visit? There is also the continuous possiblity of franchise relocation, which is common in young leagues. I would be surprised if there was no team here before 2012. Look at it like this, the St Louis Blues and the Philadelphia Flyers came in to the NHL at the same time back in 1967 and are both going strong. Nothing could have been more "niche" in the USA in 1967 than ice hockey. I look forward to soccer soon (and seeing EPL friendlies) whether it's in Chester or somewhere else in the area.
Re: The Sky is Falling (Philly Edition) Obviously, you guys are too young to remember the '64 Phils! Carter v Williams took seconds -- watching the tragic Mauch-inspired flop over a two (2)-week period (Johnny Callison, who was the REAL league MVP that season, played so sick that the opposing team [St Louis?] allowed his pathetic, shivering figure to don a jacket, a privilege reserved ONLY for pitchers!, when he reached first base) was REAL agony.
Re: The Sky is Falling (Philly Edition) Greatest show on turf.... time to gas up the car and sit in the garage.
Re: The Sky is Falling (Philly Edition) Ok, lets review the facts: Sept 10, St. Louis has positive vote for their stadium funding... ALSO on Sept 10th, people in South Philly start slicing each other up with SWORDS! (hardcore). These people thought we were bluffing???? They have no idea how serious Philly is about sports! MLS, you better get a damn team here before this crap gets out of hand. We were Murder City BEFORE... just wait to see what happens if you leave us hanging without our team. Hide the puppies.
Re: The Sky is Falling (Philly Edition) That's the same music as in the The Un-Funny Truth About SCIENTOLOGY video......creepy. (Well basically the same music) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCGP-0545EU
Re: The Sky is Falling (Philly Edition) Is there any U.S. city that doesn't claim to be "Murder City"? I've heard people from Detroit, Baltimore, St. Louis, Kansas City, Miami, Chicago, Boston, Houston, and Philly drop the MC bomb. For all I know, right now there's probably somebody strutting around in Burlington, Vermont or Missoula, Montana, acting like a total badass because hey, they're from "Murder City". Now, swords...that's some hardcore Glasgow-type stuff right there.
Re: The Sky is Falling (Philly Edition) Didn't know where to post this, so figured it would be in the nearest-to-the-top unstickied thread at the moment... If Philly gets a team, let's hope its gaffer, at the sight of his franchise player taken off the field all bloody after a collision doesn't play with 10 men for the next 10 minutes before he comes back onto the field like Greg Ryan, USWNT coach did today when he refused to substitute Abby Wambach and then the North Koreans scored twice on us at their Women's World Cup opener. That was Andy Reid-esque in its hubris and arrogance.
