Since this forum is also about movies, I guess we could add some music from Scandinavian movies to this thread as well... I'll start out by posting a few videos from the Danish movie The eye of the eagle.... In 1218 the Danish king sends his young son and heir Valdemar to safety... or so he think... (music composed by Søren Hyldgaard) : [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQLgzNBwYMA"]YouTube - Ørnens øje (The eye of the eagle) 2nd version[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KNx9M07XVU"]YouTube - Ørnens øje (The eye of the eagle)[/ame] .
Btw, I forgot to write that the music in the first The eye of the eagle youtube video is Baal - Silent Eye .
Norwegian Mortiis, a dark ambient / electropop / industrial (depending on the time frame) group, noted for the lead singer always donning a prosthetic mask and ears for performances. The album Grudge was declared a cultural artifact by the government. Mortiis - Parasite God [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeRt244bHAo"]YouTube - Mortiis - Parasite God[/ame]
More Danish Movie/TV music (in English) ... This time from the Danish TV series Ørnen (The Eagle: A Crime Odyssey... season one: The Eagle Codename: Sisyphus)... It won the International Emmy Award for best non-American television drama series in 2005 and has been aired all over Europe and was also a success in Australia I believe.. Title song : Forgiveness By: Jacob and Misen Groth ...An Icelandic boy leaves Iceland and joins the police in Denmark.... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsBP833SNWE"]YouTube - Ornen[/ame] .
Nephew - 007 Is Also Gonna Die now the full video... posted on youtube by themself : [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OY9eTihrKM0"]YouTube - Nephew - 007 Is Also Gonna Die [HD][/ame] better sound quality, no video : [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DHSoTZ3VDU"]YouTube - Nephew - "007 Is Also Gonna Die"[/ame] .

Funny to see this thread bumped! Scandinavian tunes, I'm not too sure of popular music there other than an old Erykah cd I had. But they have a lot of surprisingly great nu-jazz artists and groups & some pretty good electronica too. Some of them were spearheaded by I believe Mats Ingvarsson, such as Soul Quality Quartet and a group called A Bossa Eletrica, which featured Miriam Aida on vocals. I also liked Cai's (Cai Bojsen-Møller) works, Koop, Rasmus Faber who does a lot of house & remixes, etc., Folk øg Røvere... And then I've also been a fan of Bugge Wesseltoft and some of their more melancholic tracks as well. Good stuff. I'm not as connected to the Scandinavian scene as I once was, but I know that Raw Fusion's still around.

Michael Joseph Jackson is dead ... RIP .... He was a a great entertainer and of course no Scandinavian, but Thomas Troelsen is and he is as close as I can get, if I was to find a Danish "Michael Jackson".... though some ppl seem to think that he sounds a bit like Michael, but look like Severus Snape from the Harry Potter movies... well, watch the video and make up your own mind... Most of it is not my cup of tea, but I've always liked Trentemoller. And Roskilde is just an awesome festival by default. Wallander!
Well, I'm trying to work my way around all kinds of (mainly Danish) music in this thread ... and yes, the Roskilde festival is of absolute top class in Europe... .
It's now almost exactly two years ago the Danish rapper and reggae singer Natasja (also known as Little T ) died in a car accident on Jamaica, just when she had become a major success and her career finally was on the rise after many years of hard work and earlier setbacks.. but just as she was on the brink of becoming a huge Star, she died only 32 years old... Abroad, she is mainly known for this 2007 Reggae fusion version of "Calabria", which originally was a house music single made in 2003 by Danish DJ and record producer Rune Reilly Kølsch, better known as Enur or just Rune : Enur feat. Unfortunately I can't post YouTube videos since my work blocks the site, but a few bands from the neighborhood I've been enjoying lately are Icelandic band Amiina (website), the quartet that often performs with Sigur Rós. Another group I've been playing a lot of lately is Detektivbyrån (website), a Swedish group that kind of reminds me of Yann Tiersen and Beirut but with more electronic stuff going on.
Wildbirds and Peacedrums is one of the better groups coming out of Scandinavia for the past couple of years. Experimental rock that's heavily jazz-influenced. Heartcore was one of the better albums of 2007. How do you link youtube videos?
Some great swedish-language groups has emerged in the past couple of years. Turning their back on english, which has been the dominating language on the swedish music scene for most of the 90s and early 00s. Pascal, Samtidigt Som, Markus Krunegård, Säkert! (Which is the alter ego of Annika Norlin, who also performs in english under the name Hello Saferide), Nordpolen, Dungen (probably the band that has had most success outside of Sweden), Dungertåget, Florence Valentin and the excellent Parken (to name a few). Still, there are some great english-language artist. Some excellent representations are Fever Ray (Karin Dreijer of The Knife), Frida Hyvönen (Amazing melodies and arrangements), and Jenny Wilson.
If you haven't already, you should definitely check out Finally We Are No One by Múm. Lonely Mountain by Mugison is also pretty good. Mugison and Amiina doesn't really have that much in common though, except that they're both icelandic.
You have good taste a couple of more invocator videos i found: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1b6M4Nfuik&feature=related"]YouTube - Invocator - The Persistence From Memorial Chasm[/ame] and [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ml6iQq189F0&feature=related"]YouTube - Invocator - Excursion Demise[/ame]
