How come we " seem" to buy for cash but sell players and accept instalments .

We also get instalments included when we buy players.

Well that would suggest that we can spend so s serious money then , rather than just the 120 million plus cash raised from sales ..

    Instalments is money still, though.

JUST 120M + sales? Geez. Dunno if we're gonna spend EVEN that much.

18 years ago today (1996), Luis Enrique signed a five year deal with FC Barcelona.
He ended up playing the rest of his career wearing Blaugrana, retiring eight seasons later in 2004.

The LFP have released a few dates for next season.
I'll also add in a few other dates already known.

    August 23-24: La Liga J1
August 28: UCL group stage draw
    September 17-18: UCL Matchday 1
September 24: Midweek La Liga (the only one listed but by my calculations there should be at least two more. October, November, March and April are possibilities)
May 24: La Liga J38 (final day of play)
May 27: UEL final in Warsaw
May 30 or 31: Copa del Rey final
June 6: UCL final in Berlin
June 12: Copa America in Chile kicks off.

Sorry if this happened and I missed it but it looks like our Prediction thread is locked and I don't know if anyone has taken the trouble to post all the correct answers so that we more lazy participants can tally up our points and figure out who won (I'm pretty certain it was not me though I nailed a few of the "subjective" no points awarded ones out of the park).

Also, if it makes most sense to do it there can a mod please unlock that thread?

Finally, should we get a World Cup prediction thread going for folks on this forum?

TalkSport radio suggesting a straight swap - Cesc for Ozil is possible and would suit ALL both players and clubs . I can see this happening .

i can't really see that one happening. i think the idea behind looking at players like koke/pogba/vidal/gundogan is to add some strength to the midfield so we don't get run over by more physical sides (but without sacrificing the quick technical passing). a midfield of busi-iniesta-ozil would make our midfield easier to bully. someone like koke offers more balance as he'll be able to contribute both defensively and offensively, and gives Lucho the option of inverting the midfield triangle and play with two holding midfielders when necessary.

Barcelona charged with tax fraud on the Neymar deal, over €9m to be paid as the €40m paid to Neymar's father is considered wages.

Well I thought that the issue was that they first paid taxes on the transfer in Brazil, then, under protest/investigation, they paid a second time in Spain. If that is the case then the real issue is who they owe the money to, and if Spain is correct then can they get a refund (or a credit in Spain) for the money Brazil charged them? The point is that you are not supposed to pay twice, though the tax on wages in Spain might be higher than the tax on fees in Brazil.

Good summary of where the Neymar tax case stands which mentions both the good faith payment Barca already made, and the no double taxation treaty between Brazil and Spain (and most countries in the world), the new info is that there is a possible penalty clause of up to 6 times the amount not timely withheld BUT I'm pretty certain that will never be applied given the good faith double payment to Brazil and Spain: http://www.totalbarca.com/2014/news...eged-to-have-committed-tax-fraud/#more-159352

Good faith payment? This is ain't charity. Good faith payment means they screwed up and hope they get away with it!

MORE: Santos ex-President said Barcelona paid for an orgy at a hotel for Neymar's father. This isn't a professionally run institution anymore

This Barcelona board has to go so we can start right next season.

and this is the board that kept going on and on about Laporta's irresponsible spending.

But having elections this summer would effectively kill this summer's transfer window. By the time the elections were over and the new leadership in place, their chances of signing their first choices would be very slim and we would end up with a bunch of Song-like signings. With the transfer ban looming, it's vital that they make the most of this transfer window. so i think next summer would be a better time for elections.

They were provisionally found to owe 9M to Spain by a Spanish court which will not be the final arbiter; they previously paid 13.5M to Spain, so they already paid more than they owe (barring a penalty); and they previously paid tax on the same amount (the fee to Neymar Sr.'s co.) to Brazilian tax authorities. The issue is whether the tax is owed in Brazil or Spain as it is NOT owed in both countries, at least not absent getting a credit for what was paid in one applied towards the other. Point is both Spain and Brazil want to get paid and have yet to agree on who is entitled to what. Barca will be getting a refund from at least one of these countries by the end of this mess.

I am not saying we have a great board but just that Barca has paid both countries likely more than it will owe to either one when all is done and dusted.

Marco Reus is close to Barca. When both Sport and EMD have it as No.1 news in the same time, that's kinda interesting ...
