Here are Sargent's actual stats: https://www.transfermarkt.com/josh-sargent/leistungsdaten/spieler/393325/plus/0?saison=ges As of right now, Jesus scores every 410 minutes, or 4.5 games in first division play. Tm also breaks down At what position he scored his goals. Want to guess where he does without a doubt the best??? Go ahead, lol.
Again, where are the comparisons to the goal/games totals of strikers HIS AGE and AT THIS LEVEL? It is a mostly red herring argument to say 'this guy will never be able to score at a higher rate at this level based on his performance past performance from 18-21 years old' .......without also analyzing OTHER comparative studies of OTHER strikers/forwards during these age(s) IN THIS QUALITY LEAGUE. It is just common sense. But to do so would impact the arguments of the naysayers here, so they don't even go there. And they are lazy to do any homework. You can stay in MLS or even go to Holland and look like a goal scoring stud at 20-21....or you can test yourself against the best in the best 3 leagues in the world. Big, fat 'DUH' that it is harder to score goals in a harder league against better players.
You really shouldn’t be grouping a 21.5 year old with an 18 year old. A 21.5 year old is closer to a 24 year old physically and mentally.
I thought the answer might surprise me based on your post, but it didn't. 9 of his 11 first division goals and all 6 of his assists while playing center forward. The other two goals while playing second striker. None while playing on the wings or attacking midfielder. 410 min per goal is pretty bad. Not sure what your point is about position his position when he scored those goals though.
The SS is listed incorrectly. It should be listed as cam. See the number of games/goals playing as a Non CF, now.l, compare his game/goals playing as CF. They are worlds apart.
Premier League 2020/2021 » Top Scorer (worldfootball.net) Yeah, and of course again- your posting is without any context. This is beginning to be a trend, me thinks Even at that rate, it comes out to 7-8 goals a season. According to you, TERRIBLE Ok, take last year's list and show me all the 21 or 22 or 23 year olds that are scoring 7-8 goals in the Prem. Take away their penalties, also, unless Josh gets to take penalties....and remember again, your original arguments were taking Josh's data from being 18-21 years old...so I am HELPING YOU by allowing to include 22 and 23 year olds- players who are older and more experienced. Tell me what you find? Who are all these 21 and 22 and 23 year old strikers so vastly outperforming Sargent? Go ahead, tell me who they are.... And while you are at it....go look at the Bundesliga as well....you can even go back 1 or 2 years.....ok, you can add them to the list. What are you finding? BIG HINT: Gonna be a really short list.... Have fun adding context and realism to your arguments that way. Because they will collapse in a heap without context. Players are terrible, according to you.....just because? Getting real: - Can Josh do better...... of course he needs to! - Is he in a dip of form and confidence low in the last few games......yes he is! - Must he do better over the next 1-2 years (increase his scoring rate per game) to keep on track in his career advancement...without question! But let's not wildly extrapolate from your data....data that has absolutely no context added. Right now, it is all a bunch of wild-ass guessing where Sargent winds up at 24-25 years old in his career, because the data is far from clear at this stage. Farke is much, much more savvy about Josh's performances than you. Jordan Sancho: Superstud, Can't miss, sold for 10x of Josh's value.......10 appearances and 500 minutes played (all games) for Man U so far.....NO GOALS! What a loser! That guy will never get better. Ok....let's all sing along.... 'transition period, transition period....transition period from Bundesliga to the Prem'..........we got a full chorus of forwards joining us....Sancho, Havetz, Werner, Haller, Josh..... Are we all going to go all negative on Hoppe also, since his goal outburst last Feb....his scoring record is 'terrible' as well....it's been 8 months! This Hoppe guy will never get better either! 1 goal every 8 months is HORRIBLE.... This 'he is permanently terrible and unredeemable' game is out-n-out silly for forwards at 20 & 21 years old. Neither you, nor I, nor anyone else knows how these stories will end. Brian McBride at 22: 2 goals in 18 appearances for Wolfsburg IN THE GERMAN 2ND DIVISION What a loser than guy turned out to be. LOL
As cam he played 3 games and scored 2. RW 13 games and scored 2. He has a higher g/min ratio when he doesn't play cf!!! Lol! This is what happens when you actually watch the games. Although, the die has already been cast, unfortunately, and so Sargent will start getting a lot more pine time.
It was shown differently above, and your response was that second striker actually meant attacking midfield. He's hardly played any minutes as an actual attacking midfielder, so.... Those stats per position numbers also seem a little dubious to me until I see how those goals were scored. Might have had some connection to his position, or maybe not. Impossible to say by just looking at the numbers.
No no, I watched the games. Bremen ayed. Something like a 4-1-3-1 where I think fulkrug was striker. Josh was def cam. Don't hold me to it but one goal was against..... Frankfurt, - I think?? 15 games as non CF is enough sample size IMHO. Edit:I checked. It wasn't Frankfurt. But it was against frankfurtish teams Ha double edit, it was frankfurt. Check out the results when he played cam: https://www.transfermarkt.com/josh-sargent/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/393325/saison/ges/pos/13
4-1-3-1 doesn't add up, but whatever. I think those goals per position are at least slightly dubious until I see how they were scored. Also, non-CF doesn't mean midfield since I'm positive most of that was on the wing.
Yeah, I know what you are saying, but trust me, he was not SS. So as cam he has 7 points and two goals last season.. I mean 4-1-4-1, something close to that I think...
how do you define the difference between CAM and SS? with norwich lately he's been playing with Pukki but i haven't been watching. Is it somewhat similar?
OK, so Farke says Josh is more than doing the job when he is put in the 'hold up' role for Norwich and handling himself well against physical teams like Brighton (despite the fact JazzyAltidore considers him 'shrimpy' ). Yet you continue to argue he does not have (and apparently will never have) the ability to score goals AS A HOLDUP STRIKER..... and extrapolating from the past- he can only ever score goals while playing some other type forward/winger or advanced midfield role. That doesn't make sense to me at all. If Josh was not able to do the hold up work that is required from a CF, then you would have a better argument that he can't play there.....but that's not what Farke says.. The point is mute for this season anyway. Pukki is their main 'point of arrow' striker. But Pukki is mobile and sometimes Josh is in that role. Sometimes they are both upfront in that role. Sometimes Pukki will not play. So from all accounts, we are going to see Josh in some sort of hybrid mix of (sometimes) point forward/holdup forward at tip of arrow, (sometimes) winger/2nd forward, and sometimes coming from deep. So these pure comparisons are not so relevant. Just like they were not relevant at Werder either. Players are not static in their roles on these teams (or many teams) Now, if Josh continues to play for Norwich for several seasons....Pukki is 32 ...so eventually Josh might play more than Pukki role.....or take over for Pukki full-time...but that's down the road and not relevant to this season's conversation (barring huge loss of form or injury for Pukki....or coaching change)
Highlights of that Bremen-Frankfurt game. It doesn't look like Sargent is playing a midfield position at all. Second striker seems accurate.
I'll trust you SS is CAM, but both are non-CF. 9 goals in 58 games (53 BL/ 5 EPL) as a CF. 2 goals in 18 games (16 BL/ 2 EPL) as a non-CF. Are you sure you don't mean to compare CF to CAM (instead of non-CF)? Even so, it's only 3 games, assuming CAM should be SS as you say (what do you base that on?).
Here is how they lined up and - actually Played- https://www.google.com/search?q=bre...F-8#sie=m;/g/11jqhn_4vp;2;/m/037169;ln;fp;1;; Past three games norwich has played. With 2 strikers.
Makes sense now. In any case, that is not an attacking midfield position. Much more of a withdrawn striker or inside winger or something if had to put a name on it.
Man U/Rashford was a good illustration of the vast difference between playing striker at Man U and Norwich. Rashford had 2 excellent chances he fluffed and 1 good/very good chance he fluffed. So 3 in total. Maybe even more if you review the game... But after blowing at least 3 golden chances, then Bruno F. played him an amazing ball in for Rashford's 4th top chance in the game..... and that fine ball created a 1 v 1 with keeper for Rashford (credit to Rashford for good/very good finish inside the far post from there) At Norwich you are not going to get (in most every game) 4 or even 3 top chances. You are going get 1 or 2, if that, and you gotta make it happen on the lower rations.
