Time again for a rumors superthread. The thread on Mr. Canizares is motivation enough to get it started again. Last time around we had some folks who thought it unjustifiable that we expected the rumors to have some grounding in reality, but we do. Off we go . . .
Hey this is supposed to be over in News and Analysis. MLS General is for rumors like: Hey guys I bumped into Landon Donovan's father-in-law and he said that Landycakes is off to Everton.
'dinho to RBNY. The Catalian fallout finale. LD stays in Hollywood. Everton not up to his level. Borghetti to FCD. Ruiz to Galaxy. Pavon to unemployment line. link : www.bigsoccer.com/forum/shotthread.php?t=637436
Any news/rumors on any yanks coming home? Mainly I'm thinking of Corrales and Borchers... but I would assume Lewis is due to come back as well.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=493713&cc=5901 ---------- Updated: Dec. 26, 2007 Ronaldo to return to Brazil with Flamengo? ---------- ---------- Flamengo president Kleber Leite has revealed talks have begun over acquiring the 31-year-old Ronaldo from the European and recently-crowned FIFA Club World Cup champions. 'Flamengo have been authorised by Milan to talk to Ronaldo,' Leite told Gazzetta. 'We have made contact with the player and we are certain he can launch his career again here. 'We have not yet spoken about money and how much we would have to give to his current club, but we have exchanged ideas and got the feeling that Ronaldo really wants to change his path, and the interest is reciprocated.' The 1994 and 2002 World Cup winner has recently undergone fitness tests with Brazil team doctor Jose Luiz Runco after suffering some pains in his left shin. Runco said: 'I have a good opinion of Ronaldo. He needs to play, whether that is in Brazil or anywhere else.' ------------ With all that money that RB could/will get for Altidore, I'm guessing they'd be interested in bringing in Ronaldo.
Zurawski to LAG can be added to this rumour list. Yesterday I read that Celtic was trying to ship him off to some Israeli club, but that team is searching for a mid fielder instead. So maybe the Zurawski rumours to Los Angeles are still afloat. Links to articles can be found if you check out google news.
I don't believe it to be true, but: http://new.edp24.co.uk/content/sport/story.aspx?brand=EDPOnline&category=Sport&tBrand=EDPOnline&tCategory=Sport&itemid=NOED23%20Dec%202007%2021%3A35%3A35%3A557 "Canaries star Darren Huckerby is reportedly being targeted as part of David Beckham's LA Galaxy revolution" Paul.

I believe Borgetti signed with Monterey. (without flowers in his hair) There were some Bofo Bautista-to-Chivas rumors though.
Why would Jaime Moreno really want to leave DC United if he is almost considered a God there? Also, didn't he just make the national team once again?
Hmm. Let's see. Be a "god" for a couple hundred grand for a couple of years, or make several times that amount? With his career coming to an end, and unless he turns out to be an A-List coach or club executive, his ability to earn big bucks will be ending as well. If he's not thinking about putting away some money for his kids education and his retirement, then he's not very smart. Everyone complained that Jovan Kirovski was wasting his talent by sitting on benches or even being paid not to play one year instead of coming back to MLS and playing. Maybe, but he was pulling down many times what he would've been paid here at the time. And from what I've heard, he invested well and is set for life. Hard to argue with that. Even "long" professional sports careers are relatively short. It's nice to be able to stockpile a bunch of cash against 40-50 years of the unknown.
That is a different scenario altogether. If DC doesn't want to spend a lot on him then I can see their stance. However, I'd think DC would give him a job even after his playing days are over as LA did with Cienfuegos for all his years of service. If they don't want to , then that is another story.
One does not preclude the other. Jaime could go to Qatar (or whereever) for the money now and still return to the DC United fold after retirement.
right now, borgetti is no blanco. he's not even panchito mendoza at this point in his career. we need hungry, talented, young mexican players or established stars who can play at a high level and take up dp slots. borgetti is neither of those things.
