There are a few games to go, but it would appear the challenge will be coming from Arsenal and not City.
City will be right there. They aren't really having problems winning. we are in the weird spot where we may actually need to win 8 in a row.

LOL Just after posting that I saw this .... The Premier League have now announced that Tottenham will play Chelsea on Thursday 2nd May – after that fixture was previously postponed due to the Carabao Cup final. Tottenham also face Arsenal on Sunday 28th April – before travelling to Anfield for another Premier League clash on Sunday 5th May. Spurs will be playing Arsenal, Chelsea and finally Liverpool in the space of just seven days .... good!
so we now need one of Villa, Wolves, Chelsea, Spurs, Bournemouth, Manchester United, or Everton to take points off Arsenal. surely to God one of them ..... ??
We've got 7 league and some tough Europa games to go . City and Arse are still in the CL with the added pressure of those games so we'll see where we end up at the end of the season
The real hope is that they can both drop points somewhere. But I think we are now backed into a corner and have to win 7 in a row.
Yeah, for sure ,no longer strictly in our hands but still plenty of football to play. We cannot afford to lose but the same goes for the other two as well.
LFC will be getting a boost from returning injured players as well. Don't know if the same applies to City and Arsenal. Jota, Trent, Alisson, Konate, think that can have a good impact on remaining matches.
In retrospect, the league title was never an expectation or even a hope at the start; CL qualification and a cup were ambitious but realistic targets. We've exceeded those expectations already; we might get another cup as well. I didn't expect to win the league at the beginning of the season and realistically I don't expect it now.
There are enough games and points yet. We’re behind Arsenal on goal difference and ahead of City by a point. This is not over, not yet. Another performance or two like United as and it will be, however.
I took a quick look at our last 10 PL games: Chelsea-Arsenal-Burnley-Brentford-Luton ..... Scored 16 Conceded 7 Forest-MCity-Brighton-SU-MUnited.................Scored 8 Conceded 5 Defense doesn't seem to be the problem, but goal production is way off.
Yup, but the issue for me is not lack of enough remaining games its lack of enough quality to win out which we would really need to do. The team has demonstrated its just not up to that level of performance. Realistically we have a good chance for the Europa trophy, the league to me is unrealistic at this point.
I agree as noted in the manure thread - my main concern is that we don't have the intelligence to see out 7 wins in a row. I mean we should have beaten City as well - but didn't. Should have beaten Arsenal at home way back - but didn't. And the Manure results are ridiculous. On the flip side - to be where we are is unexpected.
our success under Klopp has always been predicated on (that word!) intensity. aka passion, aka adrenaline. it's been our go-to every time when under pressure to perform and has produced fantastic football and fantastic memories. the downside is the hit on the players' ability to keep producing the necessary energy and stamina. it's week after week, esp given how often we go behind in games. So I get what you mean by intelligence, but I think it's more a case of "not having a plan B when intensity isn't doing it". the 3 MU results are the prime exhibits. all that said - how many teams do have the ability to come up with Plan B tactics during a game, apart from player subs? and Jurgen is as good as anyone anywhere at making sound sub decisions.
Guys - in the great 19-20 season run of 27 games unbeaten we won quite a few of those 1-0 - some after missing a bucketload of chances... It happens. The nature of the importance of the game doesn't always erode this happening. Look at City losing the CL final to Chelsea...
God, I hope Bayern come to play for a change today against Arsenal. They fully have the speed and skill to score against them - I just don't understand why they are such a mess (Tuchel). Maybe now that their title is gone - they will put 100% into the CL tie.
