Unfortunately, not enough time to figure everything out in the East from DC on down.

Problem is that DC plays New England and Columbus in the last three games. New England plays the Metros twice and DC once in the last three games, and Columbus plays DC in the last three games.

The bottom four teams in the East play a grand total of eight games to end the season. Between the three possible results of each games, that's 6,561 permutations. If I had know that, I wouldn't have bothered with this thread until next week.

So here's the bottom line for the bottom four teams, in case you didn't already know:

DC United has an extremely slim chance to finish #1 in the East, a small but real chance to finish #2, a strong chance to finish #3, a strong chance to finish #4, and a slim chance to finish out of the playoffs. But if I were them, I'd start thinking about a first-round matchup against the Metros.

New England holds all the cards. Since they play the Metros twice and DC United once, they could theoretically finish as high as second and most of that would be under their control and would only require a bit of help from Columbus and Kansas City.

Because of that, Columbus basically needs a lot of help. They need for DC and the Metros to slap around New England. But they themselves need to win, and they've got two games against Chicago in the last three.

After the Columbus-Chicago and the DC United-New England games this weekend, the playoff scenarios will be about half as numerous.

    OK, if you insist...

According to an interview that I did for 3rdDegree.net with HSG President John Wagner, the Frisco project has been scrapped. Dragon Stadium is now the permanent home of the Burn.

    Just kidding.

Actually, according to Wagner, groundbreaking is TENATIVELY scheduled for the 3rd week in November -- the week before MLS Cup. The idea is to have a lot of US soccer bigwigs there and that way, you get them there while they're on their way to LA for MLS Cup.

Also, some ground has been broken. A 35-foot-deep hole has been dug to verify whether or not having the stadium completely sunken into the ground would cause any issues with the water table. Apparently, there were no issues and The Best Damn Stadium In The League will be competely sunken into the ground.

I appreciate your effort El Jefe, but man. We've waiting for 6 months now, why not just wait three more weeks and see how it all pans out? What ever happened to setting back, relaxing, and letting it all unfold? :D
