Klopps style is ideal for a team whose core age is between 24-27. Young enough to have plenty in the tank but old enough to have tactical maturity. There is still room for a couple older and younger players in the side but I'd keep older players mainly for positions like CD and DM. LFC (Edwards especially) and Klopp have been really great for us the last couple years. That said they aren't perfect. Klopp can be tactically stubborn an inflexible. He's also not as ruthless as I'd want him to be with the team roster. That said it's hard to say what they would have done the last 2 transfer windows if it wasn't for covid. I definitely agreed with them playing it financially safe with all the uncertainty.
Klopp told his pre-Burnley press conference: “Diogo, when the swelling went down, we did another picture and it looked better than in the first place with the first scan. With the CT [scan] you could see it better. could be on the bench on Sunday I guess. I hope so.
I might have missed something here but will Virgil start our season or is it too early to tell?? enquiring minds need to know.
There do need to be questions asked of our training and fitness methods given the horrendous injury record of this past season - multiple players going down with knocks in training.
I think that is typical Bayred - it was just magnified by the long-term injuries to some of our starters...
There is one thing that should be kept on mind about all this season's old doom and gloom. We got into a rut as much as anything when some good performances in the middle of the bad run didn;t produce anything. Down near the end of this stage we end up having a stinker of a first hour against Madrid and this on a day when our defence was losing the plot too. A couple of things to consider. The CL was comparatively weak this year to previous seasons (IMO) We were always capable of focusing and putting in big performances like the one against Manure ten or eleven days ago. An "up for it" performance game like that in Leg 1 and Madrid (who are at best mediocre now) would have been a goner, and it would have been just 180 minutes v Chelsea to reach a third final in 4 years.
Yep, I'll be massively surprised if Virg isn't playing in at least some of the pre-season games, Joe I'm not as confident about. Patella tears are nasty.
It depends when that was. If that was today after a scan, I'd say he's prob already in recovery.... which is(if so) good..... fingers crossed...
It’s some ligament damage - but supposed to be a lighter injury - maybe 3 weeks or so. I bet they hold him out until after the first international break.
I'm not too bothered by this, given Tsimkas' looking quite capable. I had my doubts about him last year, but he looks good. And there's Jimmy, as always....
I think that video soundtrack is using what would be called a racial slur if I used it... I demand that the moderators remove it!! *joke*
