Plymouth are an interesting side from an English youth perspective. They have Ash Phillips, Devine, Gyabi and Sousa on their books who are all current youth internationals. They also have Whittaker who is just 23 and is the top scorer in the championship, and has been scouted by Lazio this season.
Plymouth vs Leeds is on now. Gray starts for Leeds whilst Phillips, Devine and Whittaker start for Plymouth. Plymouth have Sousa on the bench whilst Leeds have Gelhardt, Cresswell and Joseph on theirs.
Just realised that Ian Foster is now the Plymouth manager. Makes sense why they’ve got so many England youngsters playing for them.
Gray is the only English eligible player playing for Leeds. Shackleton joins those 3 on the bench. Plymouth have 8 English starters and 5 on the bench.
For the first time ever in a league match, our starting XI consisted of players of 1️⃣1️⃣ different nationalities 🌍 pic.twitter.com/mgxgcD0UWo— Liverpool FC (@LFC) February 17, 2024 WithTrent (and probably ) Jones missing the next matches Liverpool might have some no English player starting line ups coming up, Fulham didn’t use an English eligible layer today - joining Spurs in having done so this season I think.
Mateo Joseph back on the bench today after scoring 2 against a Premier League side in midweek. I don't understand that kind of management, assuming he's not got a knock.
How the game has changed. Spurs opening 11 only one English player. #COYS— Lord Sugar (@Lord_Sugar) March 2, 2024
I've had enough of the damning reality that English coaches face - it's time for a change - Robbie Fowler - Mirror Online
It's a free market I'm afraid, clubs choose managers/coaches no matter how much the BBC pushes for this or that kind of racial profile.
Last Tuesday marked 25 years exactly since the last all-English XI was named for a Premier League match. Who'd have thought?
Correct. 10 points to the Rover's fan. For the record, that 1999 team was: Michael Oakes, Steve Watson, Riccardo Scimeca, Gareth Southgate, Alan Wright, Paul Merson, Ian Taylor, Simon Grayson, Lee Hendrie, Julian Joachim and Dion Dublin. And they lost 4-1 to Coventry! So maybe it's no wonder we haven't seen once since

No English eligible starters for Burnley today. Spurs and Fulham only have one and one English players on the bench as well.
No English starters for Brentford or Burnley this afternoon. Spurs ends the match with no English players on the pitch.
Kyle Walker - Peters, Jacob Greaves, Leif Davis, Kiernan Drewsbury - Hall and Morgan Whittaker are all in the Championship team of the season.
PL clubs need to be shopping in the Championship this summer. Palace have proved what an excellent market it is. Depending on who goes up there's gonna be 7 or 8 English players, mostly young ones, who are available to buy and ready for PL football. Big opportunity.
Yep I'd include the likes of Hackney, Clarke, Philogene, Sheaf, Winks and Armstrong as ones who shouldn't be the Championship next season.
All of those at least. We could make arguments for double digits really. Hopefully get as many in there as possible.
There are a plenty of English Championship players who really deserve to move up a level for sure. But what's the betting that we're just going to see another summer of Premier League clubs squandering millions on the latest exotic unknowns from Portugal and Brazil instead?
