Argentina play Ecuador in Quito which is not quite as bad as playing in the higher altitude of Bolivia but it will not be an easy match.

Iceland with a win against Kosovo next week will qualify straight out without having to go through 2nd place playoffs.

    Can you believe it??

Even a draw might see them through

No surprises there as they still have the same contingent from euros and again it has been a good build up for them coming into this qualifications as a team who have played together all along especially in that 4-4-2 formation where they look so accustomized.

    Iceland 2 - 0 Kosovo.

Iceland will qualify for Russia without playoffs.
How embarrassing is that for Holland?? :speechless:

I hope Argentina game finishes 0-0 at the 95th minute, then Argentina get a penalty, and I hope Messi hits the goalpost.

    Payback for 1978, you c*nts!!!!!!!!! :p

I agree with you. In fact I hope that just happens but Ecuador is leading 1-0. A draw will be enough for Argentina unless Colombia and Peru draw as well.

It's weird to see a US side lose due to lack of effort and lethargy. So contrary to US sports culture.

Its weird, wales wouldve been out with a draw and without bale couldnt score. If they had a few of their strikers from the mid 90-00 they would have scored against ireland. Robson kanu isnt hartson/bellamy or even earnshaw!

England getting criticised despite an easy qualification. I still cant work out why the fa gave him the job but he should keep it despite however badly the finals go.

Neymar’s goalscoring rate has slowed a bit for brazil but he’s always dangerous. I still think brazil need a little more coming off the bench before im totally convinced

Now watch Argentina go on to win the world cup next year.

Football is a very strange, unpredictable game

I wouldn't be surprised. To be honest I never possibly thought Argentina would not make it. South American teams can sometimes underperform. Look at Brazil in the Copa America, but now they were first team to qualify for World Cup after hosts. Not to point out Argentina did make 2 Copa America finals.

If you want my honest opinion Argentina has just as big of a chance as Brazil. Sampaoli is a smart manager as well. The talent Argentina has is outrageous. As long as Sampaoli knows how to use it, Argentina could be one of the favorites.

I say the top favorites are Germany, Spain, Brazil, and Argentina. Then you have Croatia, Italy, France, and Uruguay as second tier favorites. Then Belgium, Poland, and Colombia as third tiers.

Last I checked, there is a playoff coming up so I wouldn't be so quick to put Italy and Croatia as second tier favorites.

If they make it that is. Both of them had really tough groups though. Remember in UEFA, only first place makes World Cup, and second goes to playoff.

Italy had Spain in their group, and as of now Spain is the better team, so it pushed us to second place.

Croatia also had a tough group. While they should have topped it, their team has been having problems for the last few years. I mean problems in personal reasons with players and staff, not actual football problems. There is actually a huge problem in Croatian Football in general with a number of people in top positions being corrupt and guilty with a lot of politics. This resulted in coaches falling out with players, and the team underperforming purposely to get the manager sacked.

Can you imagine if Italy don't qualify

They are going to be in real trouble if they concede an early goal

Yeah, but our problem is all on Ventura. I suppose we could score 3 goals, but still though, an early goal for Sweden would not be good for us. I am not sure, but I am not liking our chances at the moment.

Ahh I hope you are right. Honestly I think its a 45% chance that we qualify judging by the way we are playing. I hope I am wrong though and I will stay faithful in my team. Honestly you guys even beat Sweden 2-0 in your home. If you can, there is no excuse for us not to.
