The only standards required for the 2019 Tory intake were "Do you back Johnson" and "Do you back Brexit".
As a good-faith response to the youth mobility issues that are inconvenient for the EU and bedeviling several UK industries, especially hospitality, the EU offered some policy proposals to the UK earlier this week. Everyone knows this kind of thing needs to be done but with the election looming, it's not convenient for the Tories - gives headbangers something to march to - or Labour - they might, gasp, have to say something - so UK pundits are going full Westminster Village on how it affects the inhabitants.
Richard Tice on Sky News complaining that Sunak is not a "true Conservative" but rather a Socialist. How far to the right do you have to be to think that?
Nice to see all of the "patriots" out on the Stella and cocaine on a Tuesday lunchtime. Shouldn't they be at work? A police horse has been hit amidst violence at London's St George's Day celebration. The Met say they deployed extra officers as “far right groups and groups linked to football clubs” had travelled from around the UK. pic.twitter.com/da0FcsHQV2— LBC (@LBC) April 23, 2024
Will likely depend on how annoyed the Greens are with the split. Reading that Labour, Libs and Tories all supporting a proposed no confidence vote. If the Greens back it, then it'll be election time.
I'm honestly surprised the Tories are backing an election. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_for_the_next_Scottish_Parliament_election Labour will pick up a bunch of seats, SNP and Tories will each lose seats. It'll make the Tories weaker in Scotland just as Rishi starts his election campaign.
I assume the aim would be to reduce the SNP to a minority government. On current polling, and assuming Lab/Lib/Con wouldn't support the SNP, then only a thee party unionist coalition could get a majority. The Nats would continue in office but seriously hobbled.
Greens are backing the NC vote. Either Yousaf quits and a replacement can form a functioning government, or there's an election.
He's not quite finished yet. Still needs one more vote against, and that sits with Ash Regan, who stood in the leadership election before quitting the SNP to join Alba.

Dan Poulter has crossed the floor to join Labour. Former junior health minister and a doctor, he cites the NHS as the primary motivation. Largely symbolic, as he's standing down at the election, but (yet) another blow for Sunak. I am resigning from the Tory party and joining Labour: only it wants to restore our NHS https://t.co/X3Y9gCewWu— The Observer (@ObserverUK) April 27, 2024
Humza Yousaf to resign today. Scotland to (probably?) have a snap election. Will it coincide with a GE?
Got to wonder what's going on with Yousaf. Why would you think you could just dump your coalition partners without discussion and expect to carry on as if nothing's happened?
You can guarantee that all of the cabinet think that you can pull someone out of depression by saying "cheer up". Nye Bevan couldn't have been more correct. Welfare secretary Mel Stride says people with depression or anxiety could lose sickness benefits as the system should not be paying them to deal with the “ordinary difficulties of life”. Has he ever needed - or tried to access - mental health support? https://t.co/DVaXjcrq4y— Pippa Crerar (@PippaCrerar) April 29, 2024
