Well this will go along way to determining how Los Ches will do this term, a confidence booster or crusher. I really like Valencia's chances if they can keep Ronaldo off the scoresheet somehow (this guy destroys us). One thing I think hurts us alot is not having a big target man ala Carew to pick on the weak airial CB's of RM. Hope the new contract boosts Ayala's play for this match.

Also I know Valencia is hurting for money but 3x ticket prices is kinda harsh.

Hey Double I know you were prefering some the other bigger names for Futbol Brasiliero rather that Oliviera. Do you watch many brasilian league games? To tell you truth I'd rather have Oliviera AND Deivid (spelling?) from Cruziero rather than one outta the higher profile names you through out. Would be about the same money for those 2 than just one of those.

CF for Cruzeiro he was their leading scorer but I admit to not being able to watch in several weeks. He is a straight forward striker (guess you can compare his style to Jardel or something lol).

I am pretty sure that Deivid of Cruzeiro signed with Bordeaux of France a while back.

Dang you are correct he is on Bordeaux's uefa cup roster... Thanks. Anyway he was fun to watch and linked up well with Alex at Cruzeiro and should be one to watch in the future. Hope he does well in Europe. Well enough dreaming, back to reality and the dominating CF's of Valencia like... Juan Sanchez ?

Congrats to Valencia for a well deserved win v Real Madrid yesterday. Valencia's defense, as always, was very solid but they won the game, in my opinion, yesterday with their midfield play. Albelda, Baraja and Jorge Lopez closed Madrid down and didn't give them any time on the ball while Vicente and Aimar were constantly causing danger for Madrid.

Once Aimar left with his muscle injury, the team's form dipped but that is to be expected as Aimar is one of the world's top attacking midfielders. Still Valencia's ball movement and teamwork were excellent. I too am confused by Carew's exit as I think he is still a useful player. he's not a great center forward but he does cause problems for the opposition. Nevertheless Ricardo Oliveira is a pretty good replacement and he did well yesterday. Let's see how he adapts to European football. The forward position, however, still remains Valencia's biggest question mark this season.

Oliveira all by himself got 7 shots on goal, what exactly were you expecting from him Martin? I was rooting for the ches (as usual I want madrid to bite the dust!) it was outstanding collective play and rm wasnt there, they were an absent team

Nice to have a creditable win under our belts, hope it goes to help this team's confindence that took a hit last season. Still I think a bigger hurdle to jump for Los Ches is playing good defensive teams and getting results that arent 0-0. Not demeaning RM here I just think Offensive teams are easier to handle for Valencia. The teams I fear are Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo in La Liga, and the many good defensive teams in the UFEA Cup that play a similiar game.

What is the status with Aimar? He was taken out of the Real Madrid game. Is he out for the Barcelona game?

    Oh well. Doesn't really matter.

We went 2-2 in what could be 2 of the hardest games of the year.
