Rumor on Quakes reddit that Beitashour has signed with an Iranian club. https://www.reddit.com/r/SJEarthqua...rding_to_transfermarkt_steven_beitashour_has/
Man, I'd be shocked if there weren't any MLS or even USL teams in for him. He's got at least another season left in the tank. Maybe he just wanted to experience something different though.
He has been on the fringes of their national team. Besides an opportunity to play in another country, it may also help his chances with the Iranian National Team.
I don't recall: I believe he didn't see the field for Iran during WC2018. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.
Because after his performances for us, Toronto & LAFC, Beita deserves better status and safety than playing in the Middle East.
i meant the first part -- that someone will probably hold a gun to his head... OTOH i guess that is pretty likely in LA as well...
I understand how one might believe that through the media's false depiction of Iran. However, it is simply untrue. The Iranian people are incredibly friendly to American's and tourists. As you said, it is probably more likely that someone would be held at gun point somewhere in LA, and many other parts of America.
Yeah, i concede I know little about Iran and also I often confuse the situation there with that of Iraq. But I lament that Beita has been treated so poorly by the Quakes, then TOR, and now LAFC. One of my favorite Quakes because he was so hard-working and up until his sports hernia made those beautiful long diagonal crosses.
How did LAFC treat him badly? By not wanting to sign him to another contract? Welcome to the world of professional sports for players past their prime.
I'm a big fan of the first guy. Just finished his series in Saudi Arabia and watching as he begins his journey in India. That said, I liked this vlog of Iran a lot more:
Where did you explain why he "deserved" better at LAFC? Don't you think if LA thought he was worth keeping they would have signed him again? It's not like their decesion was based on spite.
Ok folks, let's be real. We all loved Steve Beitashour when he was here. Maybe they shouldn't have let him and Morrow go but we have to face facts. Our results will most likely have been the same had they both stayed. This isn't a knock against Beitashour but we aren't talking about a player who would not put us over the top in terms of making the playoffs or even succeeding in the postseason... If that were true, in 2012 or rather our best year, both Morrow and Steve Beitashour will have made a difference and they didn't....
I wrote: > Because after his performances for us, Toronto & LAFC, Beita deserves better... Beita helped us have a great 2012. I don’t blame him for our not going all the way to MLS Cup (my reasoning is that the Quakes finally just ran out of luck). He helped TOR make it to MLS Cup twice, winning it once. He contributed to a solid defense in LAFC’s first 2 seasons. Just cuz LAFC didn’t re-sign him doesn’t mean something’s wrong with Beita. GM John Thorrington must have under-appreciated that defense, because he didn’t re-sign Beita and also traded away CB Walker Zimmerman and GK Tyler Miller. I didn’t watch their first CONCACAF game last week, but people i follow on twitter seemed to think LAFC looked bad.
If Beita still had something to contribute in MLS don't you think some club would have signed him? That's proof right there that LAFC likely made the right decision for their team. Tough for Beita, but, like I said earlier, the realities of being a professional athlete toward the end of their career. And being traded away and not being re-signed are two totally different things. You're just being too sentimental.
Well here’s a more important reason not to go to Iran -> declining healthcare infrastructure. Although the USA is going to be equally hit hard when corona virus takes off here. It’s just a matter of when not if. And y’all take note, older men are at higher risk of dying from it. 1232304359838507008 is not a valid tweet id
