can someone translate what suarez recently said about park ji sung? http://sports.media.daum.net/sports/worldsoccer/newsview?newsId=20140523101212366
한 국가를 대표하는 선수와 유니폼을 교환하는 건 큰 영광이다. after the game was over, you ran over to park and asked for uniform exchange was memorable. park was an iconic figure in korean national team. before the game, our coach said to take special attention to park compare to other players. coaches told us manchester united player is great in big occasions. so do not let your sight out of park. that was the coaches order. exchanging uniform with a player who represents an entire nation was an honor on my part. 그의 새로운 삶의 시작에 행운이 깃들길 빌며 축구에서 그랬던 것처럼 은퇴후에 삶도 즐기며 살길 기원한다. last week, park has announced his retirement. any words to him? for me, i remember park as a fantastic player with honesty. most of all, he left a massive impression and showed everyone in the world that football is not just sports for europe and south america. wish him best of luck to park and hope his life after football is equally great like his playing days. ------------------------------------------ i am a suarez fan now.
Actually it took reading 12th's 2010 vs 2014 analysis for me to realize who, combined with your post.
I came across this video its from 2011. I never knew captain Park would be so willing to make a pizza. Not suprisingly, look who's also there Patrice Evra!.
I am proud to have played 1 season with This man overhere. A real Professional on and off the pitch,… http://t.co/qHlf7VtSLF— Jeffrey Bruma (@jeffreybruma) May 24, 2014
Park Ji-sung charity match on right now. The usual Runningman, El Shaarawy, Zambrotta and Cha Boom! in Indonesia http://vod.sbs.co.kr/onair/onair_index.jsp?Channel=SPORTS
http://blog.paddypower.com/2014/06/...-to-stop-the-worlds-greatest-playmaker-pirlo/ In 2010 before Man United played AC Milan in the Champions League, Sir Alex gave very specific instructions on how to take care of Pirlo. Man-marking him was a huge part of our pre-game plan – I played against him when Milan beat us 3-0 at the San Siro in 2007. We didn’t man-mark him. He destroyed us. We learned, and it was painful. Park Ji-Sung was the perfect man for Pirlo in 2010 and never gave him kick (in a 7-2 aggregate victory). You could even see Pirlo getting frustrated and having little kicks out by the end. Pirlo spoke about Park in his book: ‘They’d programmed him to stop me. His devotion to the task was almost touching. Even though he was a famous player, he consented to being used as a guard dog.” For Manaus, we need an ‘English Park Ji-Sung’ – one England player designated to man-mark him. Looking at the squad, Danny Welbeck (below) – a good defender who can nick the ball well – could be an option and would be a bold decision, one which gives England a creative outlet, and saddles Pirlo with defensive work.
The thing people overlook is that park wasn't all about defence and man marking. Once he got the ball, he pushed it forward very well against AC Milan.
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27542549 go all the way bottom of the page, click on video of our national team to see park ji sung speaking awesome engrish. park speaks about us winning the world cup someday. found an old vid of park speaking engrish ahead of ucl 2011 final
this is sort of going off on a tangent, but i have noticed that a lot of Koreans say "and then" a lot.
Was just re-watching the clip of all Korean goals at WCs. We all remember PJS's goal. Between the ball going in and his turning to run over to hug Hiddink, he does that shushing celebration where he puts his index finger to his lips. Has PJS ever directly talked about what that was about? I can guess that it's aimed at all the people who questioned his inclusion in the squad (which I've heard of from various sources including his dad in that documentary). But I'm wondering if anyone ever asked him or confirmed with him directly what he was thinking. It could have been just a reflex thing, but that'd be odd, since he was at home ground and most of the noisy cheering was for him not against him. (IIRC Vieri did the same celebration after scoring vs us a few days later, which at least makes more obvious sense.)
