I always liked Marvell, class guy, class player, he would be an asset to any organization that hired him.
No earth shattering news in tonights broadcast.......He basically said the players are all in on Matias's system, but that it will take a couple of months to fully get it under their belts so to speak....He also said it looks as if the players are in overall better shape to start the season than in the past (due to the training in Cancun). Marvell thinks it's a good sign that Matias is not afraid to put younger players (TT & JY) in at crunch time, believes they are both creative players and thats what the Quakes needed. He didn't name name's, but said some past coaches only wanted veterans.......But he also was concerned that the pace of play for the Quakes was a bit to slow at times, not switching fast enough which then gave Montreal time to get into position...
Found this link on Quakes' reddit forum. https://www.sandiegouniontribune.co...d-to-pro-soccer-career-due-to-heart-condition
Good guy. There are so many variables in life. I hope he continues to find ways to enjoy life even without playing, as so many of us have had to do.
Always will be one of my favorite Quakes.....he's the only one I've ever asked to have a photo taken with....
And just to tie threads together, we ran into Marvell only a few feet from Hakan Sukur's cafe! Marvell is such a great guy, and it's unfortunate that it ended as it did -- but it's not that rare for an injury to end a career. That's soccer. And, except for Wondo, no one plays forever. When we met him, he seemed mostly concerned about his career being in limbo and it sounds like he's moved on with his life. Not optimal maybe, but not a bad outcome.
It's not the running that worries the doctors, it the possibility of a chest trauma playing a contact sport
The Number 1 Pick in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft, Marvell Wynne took the MLS by storm throughout his career. We ask him questions about his favorite moments, his retirement, and what he’s up to these days. Marvell even tells us what happened when got too high before work one time.
